paidgeek,

I apologize for tossing another "please pass this on to the PS3 folks", I am sure it can get a bit wearing, but this one would really enhance the useability for me and might be quite nice for others as well.

While discussing the use of the game controllers as a BD remote I was given a great suggestion for a possible enhancement to the functionality of the controller. The intuitiveness of the game controller makes it a great option for visually impaired users, but the only way to change audio formats with it is to bring up menus and navigate to the soundtrack you want. It was pointed out to me that the directional pad currently has no function. If it is possible, it would be great if the pad could be used to switch audio tracks on the fly.

While not as convenient as an auto selection setting for preferred audio tracks, it would still be quite a nice boost in convenience for other folks, and would make using the game controller doable for me.

Thanks,

Chris

I feel for them. I know how it feels, but reversed. Working to get out of debt from Christmas.

Chris, if you have the PS3 remote, you can change audio tracks on the fly with one button. Second one from the top, under the Eject button.

Keith,

The PS3 does not use a simple DSD capable DAC for SACD. What it does is convert, in software, a DSD stream to PCM audio, and then present it to either the included 2 chan DACs or send it over the HDMI interface. This software conversion is very CPU intensive, and that's why it's is said it might be at least as complex as DTS-MA decoding.(I think it should be much MORE complex than DTS-MA decoding, but then it does not neet to decode video at the same time...)

Paidgeek

it would be great for the PS3 to have a sleep timer, I always leave my ps3 on to download stuff fromt the PSN and it would be great to be able to turn it off after that.

So a sleep timer and a option to turn the ps3 off after downloads are complete.

Thanks

Do we have any up to date figures for BD standalones, the 300k figure doing the rounds has been with us for a few months.

I don't think Paidgeek can answer most PS3 questions as he does not work for SCEA, so I'm not sure if flooding him with those questions will help... he's already bogged down enough.

For a visually imparied person, the pad is far more tactile than little remote buttons, and far easier to establish the space of by touch

To the insiders: With 90% of those voting seeing value in having wireless availability in Profile 2 Blu-ray players, I hope this preference will help influence your making this an included feature. It will cost a few dollars more but if you want internet interactivity yo be a success it needs to be included!

Both Universal and WB talk about web-enabled content as being important for their concept of a new HD delivery format. Has the BDA put any pressure on manufacturers to provide 2.0 spec players?

Wicky-Woo is correct……it’s the Christmas-CES crunch. No time even for bathroom breaks. Might as well just hook me up with a catheter and wrap a bag around my leg to collect the urine.
Same for paid.

Out.

95% of blu-ray players in existence are 2.0 spec.
