WB's Red2Blu is great!

However, I sold off my HD DVD titles (along with my player) shortly before WB announced last year they were dumping HD DVD. The only title I didn't end up selling was "Smallville: Season Five"... which I still have in my possession. Unfortunately, WB has yet to release this title on Blu-ray, and according to you (if my memory is correct) won't be released on Blu-ray this year. Would I get the chance to use Red2Blu for this title, or if I get the chance, should I unload it since Red2Blu probably won't be around by the time this release makes it to Blu-ray?

Bill/Jeff, any updates on the rumor of Big Trouble In Little China coming to the US this summer? HDRoom reported it a month ago or so.

Another good one. This has been on one or more of the movie channels quite a few times, at least a month or so ago and always found myself watching it. Just too lazy to pop in the dvd. Since we're on the Lucasfilm subject a bit here......

How much pull does Lucas have on Labyrinth, as far as when it's released on home video? I'm guessing that it's similar to Spielberg and Close Encounters.

Also, any word on American Graffiti? Even though the current dvd version isn't bad, especially the bonus features, I'm kinda surprised that this hasn't been re-released as a multi-disc on at least dvd yet, with some sort of remastering/restoration, considering that the current dvd pressing came out in 1998. And yes, it's been re-released, but it's the same disc in different packaging.

Since this is a Lucasfilm title, and a major one, I'm guessing that this gonna go through some sort of restoration at some point, the same type of treatment that THX, SW and Indy has received.

Lucasfilm's name is on the spine, they have a lot of pull

It's coming out in the UK in August, I wouldn't be suprised at a US release near then

Wouldn't TUCKER likely be subject to Vitorrio Storaro's 2:1 cropping?

Just wanted to pop in and let Jeff and Bill know that I am VERY impressed with the X-Men Trilogy by Fox. My copy showed up in the mail. I won't discuss the price I paid, but this is a superior package with a huge value proposition. Super A/V quality (sampled all 3), great extras (haven't watched but the list seems really impressive), digital copies to load into my iphone for those train rides home after working late, and the $10 unexpected "Fox Movie Cash" to see Wolverine (which I was going to see anyway).

WOW. Please pass along my comments/compliments to Fox. Outstanding job to be commended. 20th Century Fox's "stock" just went up in my opinion.

I never saw the TUCKER DVD, but I know Storaro's insistence on cropping his 'Scope films to 2:1 on home video (aside from THE BIRD WITH THE CRYSTAL PLUMAGE apparently) has been and is a real drag for many fans. What's your view on the subject, Jeff?

Storaro is amazingly talented as a cinematographer, but after he lost his bid to make HDTV 2:1, it was time to give up on it

If it's how he wants it, it's how he wants it and it's not my place to argue with him

I actually like the 2:1 shape and think the films he's shot with that shape truly in mind from day one- i.e., Schrader's DOMINION- look quite good compositionally. But I really think he should 'compromise' for older films that were shot in 35mm anamorphic but intended for 70mm blow-up. Films like APOCALYPSE NOW, THE LAST EMPEROR, etc., since they were cropped to 2.2:1 for their 70mm presentations, if he wanted to present them that way on home video, then fine. But 2:1 is cutting it a bit too close IMO.

Vincent

Bill/Jeff I know most of Judd Apatow's movies have gotten the blu treatment but what's the hold-up on Heavy Weights, Kicking and Screaming and Anchor-Man?

I just bit on the Star Trek season 1 set. At just over $2 an episode, resistance became futile pretty quickly.

No Blu-rays except for a couple of anime titles are uponverts from DVD. With the exception of a few things like the text commentaries, the extras from the 2-discs are on the BLu-rays

The Cage will be included on Season 3, just like with the DVDs

Heavyweights is the best Ben Stiller movie to this day. None of the other ones make me laugh like this one did.

Dear Jeff or Bill,

I saw Religulous promoted by Best Buy in some ad a while ago as coming to blu-ray ... was that a misprint or has this title just been delayed?

Thanks for all your hard work.
