Yes i have. They are great. I am not saying that that brand is crappy. Just watch out for low priced cables that may not be built that well. And Monoprice cable and others do fail at greater lengths. I have a Monoprice and a Cables Unlimited UltraFlat HDMI Cable that are great and cheaper than Monster Cables. I have read that you should make sure the cables actually say HDMI on the cable somewhere and perferably stamped in the plastic on the connector. There are companys that make crap HDMI cables The one that came with my Xbox 360 Elite was crap.

Bottom line, it shouldn't make a noticable difference.
Odd, cause mine do.

called a placebo effect! you think you are getting something better, so you think you are seeing something better, if you could run your setup along side the same setup again one with monster one without you would not see a difference! you should seek out the Monster Vs Coat Hanger thread

i did my own double blind test in my own home when i just got my new $6 cable from amazon and the $50 Monster ones i bought a long time ago. My wife thought i was stupid for going through this excersize, but I am anal like that i guess.

Result:

NO DIFFERENCE

I recently did the same exact test. I purchased a Monster 1000 series 6ft HDMI cable when I got my tv so I could start watching HD TV that night. The same night I also purchased a $5 6ft HDMI cable from amazon. When it arrived, I spent a while comparing the two. I looked at still scenes (freeze frame on the Blu-Ray player and switched the cables back and forth), as well as action sequences, and I couldn't tell any difference at all.

I would definitely recommend a more reasonably priced HDMI cable (make sure it is HDMI 1.3 certified).

Monster Cable:
Operating on the "There's a sucker born every minute" philosophy since 1979.

That said, I'll be the first to agree that a quality cable will outperform an inferior cable. The difference will be in the construction, the shielding, and the quality of the copper. Will you immediately notice a difference? Maybe, maybe not. Depends on a lot of factors. But what you will notice is that after you connect & disconnect the Monster cable a few times, it's going to show just how flimsy it really is.

In my experience (both in audio installation and concert sound), Monster provides a poorly constructed cable for a premium price. Sure, they'll replace it for free when one of the connectors starts shorting because the shield came loose, but it's really a PITA and I'd rather use something better, which can usually be had for less money.

A no name generic brand vs cheap Monprice vs mid price Monster vs your overpriced $100 / ft esoteric cable will all perform about the same. This is true especially for the current specs for 1080p signals supported by Blu-ray. However that's not saying that such cable will be future proof. Test's have already shown that 1440p signals or higher resolution will be putting high demands on HDMI cable construction and quality and that's when you might be better off going Monster Cable or some esoteric brand X.

This isn't true for short runs. There have been numerous tests that have shown conclusively that on runs under 10 feet, all working cables, everybody gets a defective cable now and again, produced identical results.

No. Monoprice cables have varying levels of construction, you just have to select one of the better constructed models when dealing with a longer run of cable.

This is certainly a well constructed cable.

lol -- it prob. is a great cable, yes, but it's close to "Monster" land with that price.

Get whatever you think is right for you. If you are ready to believe there is no difference then get the monoprice cable. If you are more comfortable with a more expensive cable, get that one. You may or may not see a difference, it may be an actual or percieved differnce. Just try to enjoy whatever you have, but remember there is a level of truth in each side of any arguement.

This is the cheapest of the long run cables at monoprice.com.

Default that one lists at $17.11 -- 25' cable

not bad, but I would think most don't need 25' for the BLU-RAY/PS3/DVD player to the TV or Receiver. I checked out their site. They have plenty that are under $10 and less than 25', if that helps.

As usual, i'll say it again. - www.blu-ray.com - THIS SITE KICKS A___!

The member was asking about monoprice and long run cables, so I provided the information. Most runs of this length are for hidden components or projectors, set-ups where the source and the display are long ways apart.

Oh okay -- my mistake then.

When I get my BD55 (soon I hope!), i'll def. upgrade my HDMI Cables, so this thread is, (as usual! ), helping me greatly in advance.

Not really no. It really depends on how they are made.
