I have a Linksys Router WRT350N router it does wireless b/d/n and i have 2 PS3's , 2 desktop pc's and 2 wireless laptops and a sony location free setup along with a PS2 and i can have all devices online at the same time and have no lag and never get booted with both PS3 media servers connected . Got a great deal on the router off of Ebay the router also has a usb port to connect a Hard Drive for storage that all pc's and PS3's can access from your network , work great .

I tried your fix and it's working well so far. I just wish the darned router had a better range (I often get low signal strength - that, past problems, and the this last issue is what prompted me to ask about other models). Thanks!

Glad to hear it helped with some of the problems.
Do you have an antenna of your own attached to the router? Or the stock ones?
On my previous router which was D-link I got an antenna which was about a foot tall, it improved the signal by alot sending it from the basement up 2 floors.
Not sure of the cost, but maybe worth it over the cost of a new router if its cheap enough.

I just use the regular antenna. The router is 2 rooms away, I'd think it would be sufficient. However, i'll look into a replacement. Is there any brand or type that you recommend?
-Thanks again

Update the firmware, WRT(someodd). I had the same problem. The new firm fixes it. The problem was when the router needed to send/receive more packets then it could handle at one time, it would disconnect and start over. The new WRT firmware fixes that, it'll slow but won't just give up and drop everything.

Didn't read entirely through the thread. I have the same router and it was the Media Server connection that did it for me. I put on some custom firmware and it works fine now.

Try going to internet settings and disabling the Media Server if it happens to be on.

If you ARE using it, I'd say turn it on when you use it, and shut it off when you're done. Otherwise, I know there are workarounds.

I have it setup for mac filtering

Whenever my ps3 connects to the net and is alive for like 5 seconds the entire internet/router goes down. all computers in the house lose connection wired or wireless. including the ps3. its like its crashing the router and i have no freakin clue why.

Anyone run into a similar problem and/or otherwise know a solution?
Try configuring it under a different channel, could be interference from maybe a microwave or wireless phone handset

802.11 wireless radio waves are very prone to shielding from metal in the construction of buildings. Largest problem I encounter fixing wireless problems is the signal being blocked by a bathroom vanity or a mirror on a wall. Next are the refrigerator and other large appliances. Any thing metal including chicken wire can block the signal or cause it to bounce and cause interference. Try moving your base station left or right a few feet and see if your signal improves. If you live in a house with a basement, put you base station down near the basement floor and have it shoot the signal up. This may allow you to turn off WEP or WAP as no-one should be able to pickup your signal unless they are upstairs from you.

My favorite unit is an Apple base station extreme although I have Belkins that always work, a D-link that works most of the time and a Linksys that sometimes works. I also use Agere wireless servers with great results but the cost is high. Buffalo Technologies is the company I use at work when I want to get the most for our money and they are the oldest manufacturer of wireless technology.

Default I just want...

that .25 - .5 second delay gone that is working against me as evident in Killcam. I'll try said fix and disable media share with my Linksys. We'll see.

Linksys is a very good brand. The only problem I have with Linksys is range, and this is compared to Proxim. Nothing a repeater won't fix...

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

Sorry.

Hahahahahahahahahaha.

OK, I'm done.

Linksys is popular because they are cheap. But ever since they were bought by Cisco, their products are far from "very good". Routers made by Apple, Buffalo--and even D-Link's top-tier models--are all superior, IMHO.

The one big advantage to some Linksys models is that their software is based on Linux and thus easy to hack and manipulate with 3rd party software. But you're still left with mediocre hardware.

I know this is going back a little bit but I would use WPA and not just MAC filtering as it does not work.

Agreed. It is also not very secure. In the US, wireless devices all broadcast their MAC addresses, so with the right (free) software, you can clone them quite easily.
