Link for Spiderman 2
http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusio...php?tid/138940 Video: “For DVD, the superbit release was near reference. I’m happy to report that the legacy lives on in BD, topping the DVD substantially in all the areas that make HD shine and sparkle over SD. Resolution is first rate, up close and at a distance. It was interesting just seeing how the camera is used to focus on specific characters and objects on the screen. Depth is a step beyond as a result of the newfound image clarity. Not just because of the sizable bump in detail. But typical of the format, there’s less burden of compression and artifacts inherent standard definition processes, like ringing, color smearing, etc. Seeing Spidey swing through the canyons of New York was practically hypnotic. And when he finally comes to a stop, it looks so real, you’re there, transported to a superhero reality better than ever before. Audio: “What has been reported to be a 24bit/48kHz lossless TrueHD track, and seems to check out, looking at the PS3s internal clock, delivers all the subtleties of the mix that you’ve never heard before or just never really took notice of from the lossy nature of DVD. It’s amazing the influence of such subtle harmonics. Spidey and Oc plummeting toward the street locked in combat… And this mix relishes such simple details, as much as the grandest of effects. It was almost like experiencing the film for the very first time. Spiderman 1 http://www.hometheaterspot.com/fusio...hp?tid/138938/ “Sony has devoted an entire 50GB disc to the feature film. The AVC bitrate is typically high, and detail in bright daylight and many nighttime sequences, looks terrific. Black levels are deep, and colors have a nice luster that shows off the red and blue. As you can see in the screenshots, it’s a pretty dramatic upgrade from the previous superbit DVD. Not only is there much more detail, but almost surprisingly, there’s much greater clarity even than the Superbit DVD. With all the mosquitoes flying about, obscuring textures and details even in superbit, I can only imagine how significant the difference compared to the original 2-disc non-superbit DVD, which the superbit presentation was already distinctly better than. Audio: “Sony forgoes their usual PCM sound on this title, opting only for 24 bit TrueHD, derived from a 16 bit master, if I heard correctly, for a sonic experience that should prove as good as it gets for the title. There’s not as great an abundance of ambient detail in the mix as some. But the lossless encoding is more articulate and spaciously immersive than 768kbps DTS on DVD. As usual, it simply sounds more real. enjoy it Spiderman 3 Video: "The usual higher bitrate encoding keeps compression in check, for a more faithful, uncompromising HD experience that is sure to impress even the most ardent critic. Though there’s no accounting for arrogance, especially when it comes to critics. Unfortunately, I humbly have to count myself in that lot too. But, this disc doesn’t leave much room for criticism on technical merit. And I can’t imagine anyone being discontent with the look. The fast moving CG action takes you on a roller-coaster ride through the canyons and corridors of the big city. Like the second film, the experience is quite hypnotic, even more so with such profound dimension and realistic clarity. Audio: "The sound design is a lot like the second film, maybe even a little more ambitious in terms of effects. There’s a nice, albeit brief HD featurette in the extras that takes you into the studio to see the process and how the different parts were layered together. Suffice it to say, if you go along for the mood building music you won’t be disappointed. Neither will you be let down, if you’re looking for a sonic experience that’ll clean out your sinuses. This one offers a mighty experience in both categories. And one doesn’t stop where the other takes off. They’re both part of a bigger picture that drives the action and the story to new heights beyond what most theaters can offer. Like part 2, I was overwhelmed by the mix’s low frequency extension. Percussive forces resonate around and through you with an articulate sophistication that almost profound. The creation of the Sandman is a low frequency experience worth adding to anyone’s demo shortlist. Articulation of effects and ambience is spaciously revealing. Surround activity reinforces the action and delivers its own share of events, recreating the 360 degree soundstage that puts you in the middle of things. Effects are highly articulate, subtle, all shapes and sizes, so-to-speak. I loved that the sonic effects used to slow down time. When Gwen is falling down the side of the building, debris crumbling all around, Spidey in pursuit, a vacuum is created, dropping the dynamic…well it’s something that needs to be experienced. My comment i LOVE SPIDERMAN in BLU and i LOVE IT IN BLU JUST waiting my copy to experience it like you CHAD THANKS FOR THE REVIEW you are great as always. http://dvd.themanroom.com/dvd-review.php?id=550 Video: "this will be the first chance for home viewers to see the film in its flicker free and high-definition form. Since Blu-ray Disc is a Sony-produced format, it's no wonder Spider-Man 3 looks so sharp, vivid and well-balanced in the color department. It's worth noting that several scenes do suffer from some a bit of accidental motion blur, and at least one makes it painfully obvious that the on-screen characters were computer-generated. However, these aren't likely the effects of a transfer to Blu-ray Disc; rather, they were assuredly in the theater release as well, and their obviousness in this Blu-ray release is simply a matter of the overall picture clarity and the fact that viewers can see such detail when viewing the film on a 1080p monitor. In addition to the feature film, Disc One also includes two full-leng Audio is outstanding too my fellows . |

Concur. I didn't see anything wrong with any of the discs, although I didn't watch all of them end-to-end. I also enjoyed the main menu on the discs and the featurettes on the 2nd disk that came with SM3.

I'm actually pretty impressed by the PQ of "1". I was expecting to be disappointed like some of the reviews I've read. The only thing I've noticed is the slight bit of grain but for the most part I can ignore it. The other thing is the contrast in the skin tones is a little too hot. You can notice it in the hallway fight scene when Flash attacks Peter. Other than that I'm pretty impressed. It's the best it's ever looked and sounded.

I was also a little dissapointed, I thought Fantastic 4 rise of the silver surfer looked better than Spiderman 3 or any of the Spidermans for that matter. That having been said they still look pretty nice. Although Nov. 10th I am getting my TV proffessionally callibrated so that might make the difference.

Watched it tonight and felt like i was watching a movie in high definition, so all is well here.
Then again, I have bad eyes, so anything on Blu looks new to me. ![]() Best way to appreciate it? Go buy and SD DVD. I spent last week watching Transformers 3 times, upscaled on my PS3. Decent, but still not hi def. Made me appreciate this Spidey viewing a WHOLE lot more. ![]() |

i bought the triology yesterday, and watched 1 and 3. In 1, I could count maybe 1 minute of total grain throughout the entire movie on 10% of the screen when it occurred. I can't imagine 2 had more. 3 was perfect. don't forget the "weakest link" rule: TV quality and BD quality, obviously from the review and my observations, BD quality is not an issue. what type of TV do you have?

I only had time to watch the original Spider-man in its entirety last night and I was blown away by the level of detail, bright colors and depth of the image; and the TrueHD soundtrack was truly awesome. I sampled a number of scenes on both Spider-man 2 and Spider-man 3 and how anyone could call what I saw as a mess is quite puzzling. All three of these films have never looked better.

The picture quality on the first one was decent overall. Varies from 3 to 4 throughout the movie. In the darker scenes, I noticed that there were some heavy uses of edge enhancement. If you're not sure what I'm talking about, I can give you an example. In the scene where Peter Parker arrives home after Uncle Ben's death, you can see a bright halo around Peter's legs when he's telling Aunt May what happened.
That one stuck out like a sore thumb. I'm just saying. |
