One thing that could completely annihilate hd dvd would be to release Star Wars on blu-ray.
This would completely destroy any hope of Toshiba winning the format war.
Hell, give him $150 million.
It would all be over faster than a light saber through soft cheese.

For George its not about the money. Its about the format. He's biding his time to see which format comes out on top so that he isn't putting his saga out twice. George would laugh at 150mil. He has that in change at the bottom of his sofa.

But I agree. Star Wars in 1080 would dominate the sales charts. Indy too.

You might be surprised. There're several clips of him slashing costs or looking for the cheap out on the production featurettes on the DVDs of the most recent trilogy. It's probably more about having the time to do it the way he wants it done than anything.

Not enought time to do that, and Mr. Lucas, wont released them till there installed based for BD is into lots and lots of millions, and software sales have to show it too.

Lucas likes to take his time, as much as I want to see Star Wars in HD with lossless audio, I don't foresee this happening anytime soon.

The market just isn't big enough yet for Star Wars. It will be several years before you see Star Wars on Blu-ray. Of course you will never see Star Wars on HD DVD. Lucas has always pushed the limits of home video with his releases. Would someone who started THX pick the technically inferior format that is bandwidth and audio challenged? I think not...

I disagree with those who said that George would balk at the money. Artist or not, $150 million is $60 million more than Bill Gates' house cost. Plus think how much he would make off of the royalties. I can't imagine many people are buying standard def. versions anymore.
What better than a 50gb disc to give this movie the home treatment it has deserved?
The BDA would recoup any losses by way of hands down winning the format war, nearly all hd dvd owners would convert to blu, and the manufacturers would sell players like blunts in da' hood. The BDA would never even have to advertise again.

I agree that it would kill the format war and blu-ray would win, but isn't he working on 3D and he might want a bigger market before releasing it on a HD format.

Look at what he has done for the movie industry.
Lucasfilm, ILM, Skywalker Sound, THX....etc.
he had a big hand in revolutionizing the movies we watch today.
Forced a higher standard of quality on the industry.
I love the guy.

While I agree with you, he is single-handedly responsible for Jar Jar Binks. That knocks out at least 2 or 3 of the postive things he's done for the industry you listed by itself.

HEHE any SW fan would not disagree with you on Jar Jar.
But remember we forget that his actual audience is for Kids and adults.
Although I'm not quite sure how many kids liked him either. heheh.
The effects used for him were cutting edge at the time so it wasn't a complete waste I guess.

I'm sure Lucas would rethink the character if he could go back in time. I'll bet if there was poll on the most annoying movie character of all time good old Jar Jar would be at the top of the list.

Lucas was probably trying to create another lovable character like Yoda, R2-D2 or Chewbacca but, unfortunately for him, failed miserably.
