Hang on to those recordings, it may be the last time some of them have been aired.

As much as we all enjoy your reviews, I really want you to just grade transfers with that last statement:
“Geoff, how do you feel about the Abyss transfer?”
“The Geoff abides.”

“Geoff, how do you feel about the Terminator 2 transfer?”
“The Geoff does not abide.”

It’s not as grainy as the Blu-Ray I just watched of [silent movie from 1923], there must be DNR!

It's fake 4K, there was no 4K cameras in the 80s!

Should be interesting to see if Reliance Mediaworks is included at the very end of the credits.

Might stay till the end to find out, or not.

Reliance Mediaworks is not to fear. Fear if you see Park Road credited.

Re-uploaded the ProRes trailer. Here's a re-encoded version that's a fraction of the size (but has untouched audio).

Where did I express anything other than curiosity?

I am simply curious to whether Reliance Mediaworks years old efforts are the basis for this newest 4K transfer.

If the following credits are at the end, as at the end of the 4K tansfer of Titanic, then at minimum it can be inferred that the 4k scan is not a recent one but one created years ago.

And like Titanic, it is likely Park Road is involved with the 4K remastering and conducted their grain management and spatial detail processing.

Reminds me of someone in a WhatsApp conversation I once had, he was confused and asking me why I bothered with old movies in 4K movies, as there certainly weren't 4K cameras back then.

And links to YouTube “reviews” would be the free square in the middle of the bingo card.

Was finally able to watch the ProRes trailer, this time without audio. I LIKED what I saw. March 12 can't get here soon enough.

I have to admit, I'm impressed. Some of the shots look ****ed with, and the vfx shots look extra ****ed with, but on the whole it looks great. And that's with me less than a couple feet away from a 27" monitor.

For what it's worth, I was less impressed with Titanic 4K from the same distance on the same monitor.
