Same. It's the AI artifacts I have a problem with.

Anyone who thinks the entire transfer is teal needs to take a look at those opening sub shots. Not a teal shade in sight. Where teal is, it is intended to be. This is one of the most overall blue / teal films in history. Always has been. But not every scene or environment is the same.

Agree to disagree then. This transfer is not too dark. It looks absolutely magnificent on my aforementioned setups, both calibrated using Colourspace.

Of course it did. The point is that lack of detail wasn't the reason.

Okay. Raise your hand if you already know you'll be mentally canceling your pre-order tomorrow because something, something, James Cameron...

Welp it's out $20 on iTunes... I can wait for a price drop until the physical release in March.

I couldn't resist with The Abyss, been waiting years for this one. Can't wait for the 4K disc next year. I'll wait for a price drop with True Lies.

Can anyone confirm that the special edition is indeed in 4K, since it's listed in the extras? Thanks.

No reason it shouldn't be, it was the cut shown at the 4K screening and Cameron's preferred version.

I just got True Lies, but I really want The Abyss Special Edition. Hopefully after a few more hours it will be available along with the Theatrical Cut. The SE is the best for me, hands down probably my favorite Cameron film. Vudu has it in the bonuses already so I hope Apple TV will have it soon. I am also wondering if they will upgrade the extras on Titanic as Vudu has all the new extras. True Lies just got its bonus features so The Abyss shouldn’t be far behind. Maybe by the time I wake up in the morning.

The Abyss TC transferred for me to iTunes. I didn’t d2d the SE since it was a pretty bad transfer compared to the TC.

I doubt there will be any worries about much of this when the disc is out. A disc will always crush a stream in detail, clarity, sharpness, and texture.
