Interesting...
So that's two different ships in the film then, as it is fairly obvious that those ships are not the same.

I enjoyed the intensity of the US trailer to the UK one, but the UK trailer got it right by not showing the Space Jockey.

Btw, something that has been bugging me about the Prometheus story we know from the trailers so far is the Prometheus finds and lands on a planet that is a specific destination for it's crew, yet the place looks like it couldn't be more uncivilized or 'Unadvanced' for a civilization that must be at least 150'000 years ahead of humanity. I hope they answer that question. I was trying to recall what it was really similar to and then my wife suggested correctly the homeplanet of The Shadows from Babylon 5, once again a lone spacecraft Icarus (also Greek) sent out by a Corporation to encounter super-advanced beings! Only to discover it's a dusty relic of a place with little sign of life.

[Show spoiler]It is the same ship shot from two different angles. The debris field of the remains of the Prometheus are not the same in both shots. They are on LV-426. Once they discover the intent of the Engineers/gods, to destroy life on earth The Prometheus gets airborne as the alien ship rises from its subterranean hanger in front of the walled area. Prometheus rams the alien ship out of the sky. Shaw and/or Vickers running to avoid the crashing alien ship and falling Prometheus debris eventually escape in the shuttle that is seen exiting the Prometheus prior to the ram and presumably lands on the surface of LV-426 close to the crash site. The shuttle, as described in the Weyland Industries timeline, can maintain life support for 50 years. This sets up the sequel to Prometheus,(Scott said he was "in a hurry" to make the sequel at Wondercon) when Shaw and/or Vickers are recovered much as Ripley was in Aliens. Perhaps Shaw/Vickers have an opportunity to activate the warning in the Alien ship that sets up the Alien movie of 1979 prior to escaping LV-426 in the shuttle.

Regarding Scott's comment about the Space jockey in Alien:

"That wasn’t a skeleton, that was a suit."

Seems to me that he's doing a nasty bit of retconning on that in order to fit the new storyline.

Here's the Space Jockey's chestburster exit wound in Alien:

No way is that a suit - those are obviously bones.

AND the Space Jockey in Alien has eye sockets AND teeth:

From what we saw in Alien, that is NOT a suit.

But now Scott says it is, so he's hacking around with the assumed history of Alien.

That p*sses me off. From other forums on the 'net it appears to have annoyed many other fans too.

To me it looks like they realized after releasing the teaser trailer that the derelict doesn't land correctly to match the side that is on the ground in Alien so they went back and redid it. There are matching geographical features in both shots in the same places so it's less likely that it's just another angle to watch the derelict crash.

And...

on the UK trailer they get Shaw stumbling through the ship with blood on her, while in the US version its mud! NOT blood! (Hey, at least they sound similar)

But what the heck gives here?

Check out 02:30 in the UK trailer and 02:09 in the US one.

Well Foggy, enjoy your R-rated version while we here in the US get the cleaned up PG-13 one.

LOL, as if the trailer wasn't intense and frightening anyway. Oh no, we can't have any blood...

This was my first thought too. The terrain around the ship is VERY similar. They probably read several complaints after the teaser and made corrections to ensure there would be no further confusion about there being a 2nd space craft.

No, a sequel to this, another prequel to Alien.

He mentioned that a while ago at a screening in L.A. for Alien and Blade Runner. But it's been documented online, too.

In the Prometheus trailer, it seems that a person (sort of looking like the crazed captain from Boyle's Sunshine) is transforming into the space jockey. So is Ridley Scott saying that the aliens from the Aliens movies are originally human beings infected by some intelligent microbes?
