He has hinted at a sequel to Prometheus doesn't that mean that there could in fact very well be a second SJ ship and second planet. Maybe the sequel will have giger's aliens in them which would explain the burst chest of the SJ.

But it would also nullify this planet being LV-426, with the Prometheus out doing it's own thing 40 years before the Nostromo, and neither ship having any relation to the other beyond the fact that they find these ships. Last edited by BouCoupDinkyDau; 04-01-2012 at 11:30 PM. |

I saw the trailer for this in 3d when I saw Wraith of the titans and at the end alot of people didn't know what to make of it. With them thinking it was just another sci-fi/horror space movie.
I think they should atleast add into the trailer "From the director of Alien" |

Geeze, folks. Have none of you in here ever taken college chemistry? Heck, even high school chemistry covers this. The atomic numbers go from 1 to 118. 56 isn't missing for example, waiting to be discovered--we already know what it is. About 30 of the elements are man-made, but they are unstable and literally live for nanoseconds before dying. We see all of these atoms throughout the universe (the natural ones). They're everywhere. I know the discovery of a new element is a very romantic notion, but it's not gonna happen. We may toy with nature and create more artificial elements, but nature has already showed us what the universe is made of. Now the discovery of new molecules? ...that's something completely different. Unlimited possibilities await. Last edited by BouCoupDinkyDau; 04-02-2012 at 01:16 AM. |

![]() Looks even moreso when you add in that comment stating that "about 30 of the elements are man-made". Who's to say that, somewhere in this vast universe, a race has not evolved to the point of being able to stabilize their "home-made" elements? My friends, to say that it "CANNOT happen/HAS NOT happened" is a bold-ass statement to make, and typical of many (more conservative) scientists and researchers. But it is not a "universal truth". Many humans, for some reason, seem to think we're the ultimate creature in the universe. I doubt that highly. Last edited by Lemmy Lugosi; 04-02-2012 at 02:39 PM. |

But alas, this is all my fault (and I really mean that). Fighting people's beliefs and values with facts has been been a losing battle in my experience. Popular opinion and sentiment have always been much more powerful influences than the truth. In some ways, that's a good thing, because our stubbornness as a race has allowed us to go beyond with our imaginations and see things from different perspectives. But it's also a double edged sword--we sometimes lie to ourselves as a society to the point of making ourselves blind. Oh well. To get back on topic, this was originally an idea I was proposing about the geology of LV-426. Rather than bringing up science in such a specific manner, I should have said: "Nature tends to repeat herself, and the terrain between these two films does not make sense if it's all on the same planet." Game on... Last edited by BouCoupDinkyDau; 04-02-2012 at 09:29 PM. Reason: spelling |

![]() Just like how the Periodic table has been extended several times as new discoveries were made ![]() All I am getting at is that the Assumption that we know and/or discovered everything in any part of this universe is a little Naive. Quote:
