She’s playing a “suit” named Vickers that’s in charge of the central mission of the film. She said that she plays “a machine in charge of the machine” — it’s unclear if she’s referring to the spaceship that the rest of the crew is on, or if she’s actually referring to her character as being a machine as well.

And,
[Show spoiler]as Ridley pointed out at the beginning of the Comicon interview in July, the first scene in the movie (which was filmed last in Iceland) is of the watefall, just as noted in the "fake" synopsis.

As a caveat, I would add that the fake, debunked synopsis started showing up on the internet in August, a few weeks after the July 21 2011 comicon interview with Lindelof, Theron, Rapace and Scott.
Boy oh boy..Im so confused now...

.

I was a bit disappointed in the design of their space helmets because they give off a certain 'Lost in Space' feel, however if you notice it's shape, it sure reminds me of an alien egg.

The helmets are kind of a funky design. They bother me a little, but not enough. I think the whole design of the helmets is to be able to clearly make out the actors in the scenes where they are wearing the helmets. Basicly the same idea James Cameron did with the scuba masks on The Abyss.

I don't know how the 3D will look on prometheus, the movie looks very dark.
I would prefer the movie in 2D on a 4k or 8k projector. (at home)

So what, Messrs Scott et al are lying to audiences because the synopsis of the film is already out there?

Bear in mind how simplistic (at first) the basic concepts and stories were for both Blade Runner and Alien. I don't see why Prometheus should be any different.

Oh, and this:
[Show spoiler]So the alien space craft apparantly seen at the start of the film on proto-earth is either capable of time travel or the Prometheus is? Because it needs to be (or has been in service for a quarter million years) for it to be the same ship the Prometheus encounters later on. Or did i miss something?

Don't worry, this will be taken care of in post production.

Yeah I guess you are right about the plot relevance which subjugates to the screenplay. Lets hope its true

The scene of the spaceship over the waterfall was the last scene shot for the movie, but it occurs at the beginning of the movie per Scott.
[Show spoiler]You can consider it a flashback to the initial terraforming of earth by the 'Engineers'. No time travel or wormhole is involved. It is depicting an historical event. I infer this from Ridleys comments at the beginning of the Comicon interview.

Did anyone else who watched the Comicon 2011 interview video find it odd that Ridley Scott had to be instructed by Noomi Rapace on how to pronounce her last name? Kinda makes you wonder if this may have been quite a challenge for him at 74.

I would also point out that
[Show spoiler]this version of the "leaked, debunked" synopsis preceded the Comicon interview by about 3 weeks, yet it appears to validate the terraforming scene which will appear at the beginning of the movie. http://www.alienprequelnews.com/2011...is-leaked.html

I agree. Dark scenes in RealD 3D don't work in the theater as well as they do in the home theater, in my opinion.

Man this movie looks great! Seems like they are going back to when the alien eggs were on the ship in the first alien movie. Can't wait to see this

That was my point. The ship used by the 'Engineers' is the same as the one that the crew of the Prometheus encounter. So. What kind of alien race would use the same ship type during a quarter of a million year period! You get what i'm saying?

The guy's worked with a zillion actors. I'll give him the benefit of the doubt and chalk it up to memory overload and that it was nothing personal.

Not completely, the saucer shaped ship over the waterfall doesn't look anything like the Spacejockey ship seen in later scenes with Shaw and Vickers running from the crashing ship.

Saucer vs doughnut with a bite out of it. So, while the first scene in the movie takes place millions? of years in the Alien timeline future, it is a flashback from the Prometheus movie timeline. That said,
[Show spoiler]I believe a wormhole/time travel is involved at some point which allows the Noomi Rapace and Charlize Theron characters (Shaw and Vickers) to appear at the crash scene of the Spacejockey ship (doughnut with a bite) which probably appears toward the end of the Prometheus movie and near the beginning of the Alien movie.

Another interpretation of the teaser trailer. Spoiler Alert: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature...&v=KVVBb-NmeJQ

the "fake" synopsois which has now been made apparent to clearly be legit says
[Show spoiler]that the crew travels through a wormhole back to the Engineers creation of man, so there is no quarter million year gap that you speak of.

Then don't watch it. You can stay at home and watch Scorpion King 2: Rise of a Warrior, that's in your collection. I'm sure that's so much better a movie.
