Same here. I got Tron Legacy in 3D but I don't have a 3D setup yet. Doing the same for Prometheus.

Voted four stars...Visually impressive and did enjoy it. Although; I can see how there were parts that did not "flow" perfectly. The ending was cool
[Show spoiler]for a second I thought everyone was going to die. Although, the premise of finding another ship and flying it was not very well thought out imo.

Yep, ironically that had me squirming more than the original chestburster scene way back.

Really? That didn't bother me at all. It's a military base with five hangers.

Anyone also put together how Ripley in Alien 3 she had
[Show spoiler]the alien queen inside her
, that the same type of facehugger that implanted the dog, the Alien that came out of that dog was already full grown? Same as
[Show spoiler]the xenomorph that came out of the Engineer
...wouldn't you think there'd be some kind of
[Show spoiler]"connection" in the sense that the xenomorph is ever-evolving, and in this case, this is a species in the making? Same as the Alien that was on Alien 3? That may have been a different type of species, behaving like a dog, very agile?
I know most people don't put Aliens beyond the second Cameron film, but there is some lineage that's being addressed...Just a thought...

Ridley Scott definitely knows how to do horror effectively. I was also really impressed with Noomi Rapace during that scene and her performance in the immediate aftermath. A poorer actress could have made that scene cheesy and unintentionally funny. Her character definitely needed a hug after that.

She needed more than a hug....she needed rest....she needed to be carried...a hug is the first thing she needed, and then the care...yeah I felt sorry for her after that scene...

Finally watched it!!

Overall, I liked it a lot. I tried to avoid this thread so I don't get any spoilers. But now that I have seen it, trying to read over 200 pages is little too much. So, I'm sorry if this was mentioned/discussed before but my question is

[Show spoiler] Anyone disappointed that last engineer didn't die on the chair? Or is it a different space jockey and ship than the one in original Alien? We do know that there are other ships on the planet and the space jockey in the original Alien did seem to die with smaller hole on its chest.
Maybe there will be a sequel explaining what happened at the planet afterwards. Maybe other engineers are sleeping in different ships and the newly created Queen (I'm assuming since I think I saw sac like anatomy on the stomach of the new alien) awakens and use them for more offsprings = evolving more to the egg, face-hugging, chest-bursting alien we all know. This might explain why there are so many eggs in original Alien = there were lot more engineers in capsules and one of them dies on the chair later. Or maybe that is Charlize Theron's character - that exoskeleton is just a suit (hated how she died - but we never saw it happened, so there might be a chance that she is alive)
Am I pushing it too much

I'm glad that not everything has been explained. It leads to more discussion, evident with more than 200 pages here

Hopefully there will be a sequel. One at the planet to really connect to the original Alien and another to see how the story of Shaw going to engineer's home planet goes.

Agreed.....this kind of cinematography really encouraged me to buy my 3D projector. This movie is an absolute 1st day 3D buy for me. Having a 120" screen in your home is pretty much mind-blowing (I want an even bigger screen, but I need the horizontal space for my beer fridge......).

I disagree that I wasn't disappointed on how the movie turned out, I like how it unraveled all the way through the end...

We know that Shaw believes she couldn't get pregnant, but without her explaining exactly WHY she believes she can't get pregnant, we don't know for sure. "Miracles" can and do happen especially if Shaw still has her ovaries in tact. The idea of a "miracle" (or in this cased "cursed") baby also plays into the quasireligious theme of the movie. Besides, I thought someone said that elements of Shaw were designed into the Deacon?
Regarding the
[Show spoiler]Deacon designed with element of Shaw. I posted the glossary several pages ago. Thats where it came from:

The Deacon - Ridley Scott's own name for the offspring of the Trilobite and the Engineer, who dubbed it so because the final design - which includes elements from Shaw, the Engineer and the Trilobite - looked, "like a Bishop's mitre, the evil Deacon's pointed hat." Two versions of it were built: One for inside the birthing sac within the Engineer, and one for when it stands up.

I failed to catch David's response to that question back to Shaw.

Could someone tell me what it was?

David did not respond to her question. He just gave her an enigmatic look.

Ah, I see the reason for the confusion. I was using the word
[Show spoiler] Deacon as a generic term for the xenomorphs (mural and Engineer born xenomorph at the end of the film). The term actually applies only to the one seen at the end of the film according to the glossary. I'll refer to the xenomorph on the mural as the Mural Alien to avoid further confusion. What differentiates the mural alien from the Deacon is the insertion of Holloway and Shaw into the lifecycle.

Regarding the mural:

There's an altar to H.R. Giger inside the "Head Room."
Says Steve Messing:

"Another set that I worked on was known as the "Head Room." This was a ceremonial room that contained hundreds of ampules beneath a giant sculpture of an Engineer's head. Julian Caldrow did an amazing job of working out all of the details for this environment and created the set drawings. The final set was built at full scale and was incredible to walk on. I also sculpted an altar area for this set that paid homage to Giger -it is a relief sculpture hanging from the wall and has the impression of an alien form with flowing structures surrounding it. There are a lot of easter eggs in this sculpture — including several hidden Giger motifs that were not used in the original film."

If this altar and sculpture was nothing more than an homage to Giger, it would have been a slap in the face to make it a queen xenomorph. Giger had nothing to do with the design of the queen and was not even given credit for original creature design in the Cameron Aliens movie.

Take note that it is a ceremonial room, not a weapons depot. It tends to support that the Engineers worship the alien depicted in the mural.[/SPOILER

I'm laughing at how much theorizing people are doing for this movie. Just like Lost...

It's a solid movie but the script has numerous flaws. It's not "deep". That's just the inability of the writers to effectively resolve plot points. There is no "mystery" or "ambiguity". Just lazy writing.

I'm surprised at how people fall for Lindelof's whole "audience doesn't need to know" schtick. He's just a writer. He doesn't have the answers to the origins of life in his script.

The Dude has spoken.

If the engineers were really all that impressive, they would have been worshiping the Dude, not a xenomorph.
