Correct?

.
First he agrees with
[Show spoiler]Weyland's statement with a "yes sir," then tells him to have a good journey (or something to that effect).

Surrogate mothers contribute nothing to the DNA of the child that they carry. But yes, all of this is still debatable and may or may not be answered in the follow-up (if there is one).

I failed to catch David's response to that question back to Shaw.

Could someone tell me what it was?

Thanks

only Weyland responds to that ,i think he said "smells fine to me" and gives David a "look".

I know that. But an embryo, or fertilized egg, still has to be implanted in the surrogate mother
[Show spoiler]which if we are to believe that Shaw isn't the biological mother, means that it wasn't Holloway's mutated s-p-e-r-m but rather a fully formed embryo he implanted in her when they had sex.
Either way, it's fun discussing and hearing the different speculations.

Isn't this similar to what happened in the beginning of ALIEN RES?

Sorry to bring that one up.

It was good, but lacked gravitas. I just didn't feel satiated at the end. Too many questions left unanswered.

But man... was it pretty to look at!

Sadly never to be duplicated on the much smaller home theater screens. But I guess that's what movie theaters are for.

What is this Alien Resurrection you speak of? Never heard of it.

But in all seriousness, Alien Resurrection makes absolutely no sense. At least with what Prometheus proposes there is some semblance of internal logic and scientific possibility as opposed to the pure fantasy that was Alien Resurrection.

We know that Shaw believes she couldn't get pregnant, but without her explaining exactly WHY she believes she can't get pregnant, we don't know for sure. "Miracles" can and do happen especially if Shaw still has her ovaries in tact. The idea of a "miracle" (or in this cased "cursed") baby also plays into the quasireligious theme of the movie. Besides, I thought someone said that elements of Shaw were designed into the Deacon?
[Show spoiler]Kane, being male, was unable to birth a child, however it's theorized and stated that his DNA would of been present in the Xenomorph we see in Alien, so from a logical standpoint, I see no reason to believe Shaw's DNA wouldn't of been found in the Trilobite. Kane's embryo entered his body in a different way than Shaws, and even though the life cycle is different, everything we've been shown without speculation, points to gene splicing. From the original Alien, to the Hammerpedes, to the zombie guy.

Went for viewing #3 today (my second 3D viewing). Loving this movie more and more (though it definitely needs an extended cut - especially for the last 30 minutes, in which everything just goes by too fast). This movie, along with Hugo, is making me wish I had a 3D tv. I'm still going to buy the 3D version so that I'm future proofed on this title. The way Ridley shot this film is breathtaking.

I agree with you about the gene splicing however
[Show spoiler]unlike Kane, Shaw's body recognized the Trilobite as a legitimate pregnancy as evidenced by the amniotic sac and umbilical cord whereas Kane wasn't so much pregnant as he was a host for the parasitic xenomorph embryo. In order for Shaw's body to be pregnant in the literal sense, her body had to recognize the embryo as human. It's why you can't implant a dog embryo in a human female and expect it to develop. Her body would recognize it as foreign and subsequently abort it. However, Shaw's body did recognize the Trilobite as "human," at least genetically. The most obvious reason for this, in my mind, is that it was her egg that was fertilized by Holloway's infected s-p-e-r-m but as of right now that's just speculation on my part based on my understanding of the human reproductive system.

[Show spoiler]Yes and I agree, but all I was saying is no matter how it got their, the Trilobite would have Shaw's DNA.
