This film has grown on me after re-watches, I was surprised I had given this 2 stars however long ago I voted. I'd probably give it a 3.5 now

It's borderline criminal that they didn't follow this story in Covenant and listened to naysayers.
It has been 7 years. Is it more appreciated now? We need a poll.

Same here. The fact that they don’t have a way to tell David from Walter is ridiculous. Plus Covenant centered way too much around David. And there was really nothing about the characters that drew you in like Prometheus did.

Another thing about Prometheus is when it came out I was lucky enough to see it in IMAX 3D. During the scene where they are landing on the planet I felt like that’s as close as I’m ever going to get to going to space and landing on another planet myself. Very cool the way they did that scene.

I saw it in IMAX 3D as well. That orrery hologram scene was gorgeous.

That might be my favorite use of 3D ever.

I find it more or less impossible to complain about a film focusing a lot on a character portrayed by Fassbender.

The problem I have with Prometheus is while its on ok sci-fi films its a bad Alien prequel IMO. I don't hate it like some others do but I do prefer Covenant over it. I will probably never like an Alien film that doesn't fully feature a Xeno.

Well, he’s good and all but the movie has a lot of flaws. Noone can act their way out of a suspect script, weak writing and a lack of other good characters. Prometheus was OK. Had some moments but also had a lot of NON moments. It wasn’t sure what it wanted to be. Sort of a mess.

It didn’t really hit the mark as an Alien saga prequel. Wasn’t connected enough. It also didn’t quite stand on its own either. I dunno, just felt confused and unsure of itself. Like I said, I still watch it when we watch the alien series but it doesn’t feel so much as a part of the saga. More like a very loosely related spin off or something. The 3D version on my OLED is sick looking though, gotta say that!

I never felt the "non-connected" aspect was really a problem. I just enjoy the film, though not as much as Prometheus.

And Fassbender is better than "good." But you're right that an actor is only as good as his or her material. If someone is given sub-par material then there isn't much to be done. But I didn't think the material here was sub-par. Just different.

But trust me, I do understand why those who don't like it feel that way.

I'm definitely not narcissistic.

Deluded? Quite possibly, though.
