I love the cover too. Very excited for more Renoir.

They've done that for a while now with Brazil, Dazed and Confused, Fear and Loathing in LV, The Fantastic Mr. Fox, Godzilla, IAMMMMW, and maybe a few others. We have been getting a bunch more lately though between Dr. Strangelove, Manchurian Candidate, The Graduate, and Inside Llewyn Davis.

I might double-up on Dr. Strangelove for the new interviews and stuff.

The MoC transfer looks great. I wonder if it's based on a 4k transfer as well. I'll probably wait until B&N half off sale to pick this up (July?)

If you love Cult films, you'll love Fantastic Planet. Think of it as Alice in Wonderland on Acid. The music soundtrack itself is really groovy in a psychedelic/funky way. People say it reminds them of Pink Floyd.
It looks very good, but I do feel like it was from a dated source. I think the CC transfer will be a noticeable improvement in richness and depth, but I guess we'll see.

So does this mean UK could get Criterion version of Dr Strangelove now? Even if there is already copies available?

Yes, it's going to be a stunning release. By contrast Sils Maria is pretty disappointing, I was hoping for an Assayas commentary and some sort of scholarly analysis of the film.

As we're going The Tree of Life will be announced before The New World.
(and I wouldn't have any problem with that)

Any chance of Ralph Bakshi films, or is that too trashy? If Criterion put out Fritz the Cat, I might just buy it.

At one point I wondered how it would be if Criterion could release a Don Hertzfeldt collection. With his recently kickstarter Blu-Ray released though, I'm not sure how it'd work out -- the current Blu-Ray looks great.

Fritz The Cat would be Day 1 for me. OMG that would be amazing.

Any Renoir release is day one for me. Very excited and I love Fritz Lang's Scarlet Street so I'm glad I can finally see the original.

I already own the MoC for Fantastic Planet and Le Amiche and the Sony disc for Dr. Strangelove and I'll pass on the rest. So a slow month again for me.

The Plague Dogs is from the same writer/producer/director as Watership Down, so that one will probably be next.
I'd like to see The Thief and the Cobbler, but that one's not likely to happen.

The casting is one of the most genius things about the film. Korine presents a satire of our celebrity obsessed generation, by casting the very celebrities who inspire these obsessions (two former Disney stars). I think it was an excellent call. The film itself is great too... visually, it's like a kaleidoscope of colours. I still think Gummo needs a Blu-ray release, but I guess not many people want to see that dirty bathwater in HD.

I'd rather have Sils Maria. That's the beauty of subjective opinions, neither one of us is wrong! (That and New World is coming anyway, so it's not like anyone's losing lol)

I've been waiting for a long time for Criterion's release of Sils Maria, but deflated at seeing those scant extras. That said I'll still pick it up. I would say "Day 1" but I believe the BN sale will be about two weeks later so...Day 15?

I already own Dr. Strangelove, but I wouldn't call it a wasted release since that one is OOP now. I might pick it up at the summer BN sale anyway.

Yes, and I'm noticing that commentary tracks are becoming the new booklets: scarcer and scarcer. Other than those quibbles; it's a great month top to bottom with Clouds the only maybe title of the bunch.
