Maybe one to watch once a year or so.
I'll watch it again this week with the commentary track on though

Did expect a few more extras...
I have found myself to like it more with each subsequent viewing, like how
[Show spoiler]with each re-watch you notice more and more of the various hired 'extras' appear throughout the film and at the movie's end in the cafeteria, like the fake nun at the airport.

I would love to see the following films get releases, especially since none of them have Blu-rays in North America, and some of them don't have Blu-rays at all:

1. Maelstrom (Denis Villeneuve, 2000)
2. August 32nd on Earth/Un 32 août sur terre (Denis Villeneuve, 1998)
3. Big Night (Campbell Scott and Stanley Tucci, 1996)
4. Panic Room (David Fincher, 2002)
5. Rage/Ikari (Sang-il Lee, 2016)
6. We Monsters/Wir Monster (Sebastian Ko, 2015)
7. Antarctica/Nankyoku Monogatari (Koreyoshi Kurahara, 1983)
8. Shaolin Soccer/Siu Lam juk kau (Stephen Chow, 2001)
9. The Ballad of Buster Scruggs (Coen Brothers, 2018)

I don't watch it frequently, but it stands up every time for me. There are so many enjoyable elements in addition to the narrative and central performance, including the cinematography, production design, soundtrack, and the great supporting cast.

And now I'm bummed because I'll have a Chuck Norris movie in my collection. Although, come to think of it, I think I still have a laserdisc of Sidekicks...

That would be nice, but the Masters of Cinema release is worth getting if one is region free (which I know you are).

Depends on how you approach such things. Does The Empire Strikes Back lose its appeal after finding out who Darth Vader really is? Does Citizen Kane lose its appeal after finding out what "Rosebud" is? Does Chinatown lose its appeal once you know the secret involving John Huston's and Faye Dunaway's characters?

And The Twilight Zone thrived on twist endings, but episodes like "To Serve Man" or "The Invaders" are just as good on the nth viewing as they are on the first.

Those films still hold up because they're great films. There are plenty of movies with twist endings that don't hold up because the twist ending is just a gimmick. That's why he's asking the question, to see if The Game is the former or the latter.

Yeah, Big Night. That one's been in physical release hell for as long as I can remember. Same for its excellent soundtrack. Such a shame, because it's a wonderful film.

Well, sure. That's why I said "Depends on how you approach such things." Anyway, it wasn't as clear to me as it was apparently to you that that was what he was getting at by the question.

My apologies to joy-division if I misinterpreted his question.

For me it's the exact opposite. I really disliked it the first time around because the twist came off as more of a cheat and that made the whole thing feel cheap and manipulative. Now that I know what I'm in for it's a lot easier to just enjoy the ride.

Don't get me wrong, it still bugs me but it doesn't keep me from enjoying the Good Stuff.

I had to import the region-free Korean DVD as at the time I didn't have a region-free player, and the US DVD was OOP and very expensive.

I thought maybe Olive would do this one at some point, are they even releasing stuff anymore?

It looks like they released only four titles in the entirety of 2019: in the regular line, How to Stuff a Wild Bikini and The Believers, both in June, and in the Signature line, A Bucket of Blood in September, and The Bells of St. Mary's in November. Since then, nada, although they announced Hair in the Signature line for June.

Let's hope so. It would be a day one purchase for me. A terrific screwball comedy that manages to this day to still make my laugh and smile. Besides, Barbara Stanwyck is severely lacking bluray wise.

I know it's public domain and there are questions about available source materials but even a decent release of The Strange Love of Martha Ivers would be extremely welcome.
