So did Matt Zoller Seitz: http://blogs.indiewire.com/pressplay...cated-you-are# I've suffered through films with audiences that behave this way myself. I get that things are anachronistic, but I'm frequently appalled when people laugh at genuinely dramatic scenes, like the end of Vivre Sa Vie. Worst example for me: huge laughter throughout the ending of Bresson's Lancelot du Lac. I was equally horrified by the film's violent and bloody denouement and disgusted by the audience's disrespect and childish response. |

Let's assume both these guys are putting forth a decent effort and coming to different conclusions, doesn't it still come down to what you see on your av system? |

As Ryan Gallagher of the Criterion Cast just pointed out on Twitter, Chungking Express is now listed as out of print on Criterion's website:

I need to revisit In the Mood For Love, since I have only seen it once, but I actually kind of prefer Chungking Express. I would definitely recommend it.

Yeah, the guy works hard getting everything together for his big movie, and then the big horror-epic just ends up being his own real-life intervention-protest rant about being "forced" to go to A-A meetings...

Quite a few years back (5 to 10), I went to the premiere showing of an independent film in Milwaukee. (I don't remember the title). But anyway, Mark Borchardt was there too. If I remember correctly, he had a bit part in the film. Being the geek that I am, I had a picture taken with him. I didn't talk to him much, but he seemed to be exactly the same guy you saw in American Movie.

Ok, I watched my copy of The Game. And I think I've found something really off. It could be my crap TV but when he enters his house to White Rabbit and the black lights come on, it's really muted. I saw this in the theater 3 times and several times on DVD, the black light was blaring green. Almost to the point where it would hurt your eyes.
Did Fincher mute the brightness on this release or am I crazy? |
