The region-free Universal release of Trouble In Paradise has just been delayed for a third time. It was supposed to come out in December, then was pushed back to each successive month. I’m wondering if it has even the slightest thing to do with an impending Criterion release. Maybe Criterion doesn’t want the Universal edition to cannibalize their sales?

No, but whether Criterion has any say about competing editions when they license a title. I’m just wondering what the reason would be for Universal to delay a release three times since announcing it less than two months ago.

It would be my preference to separate the art from the artist, but many people can't do that. As long as Blu-ray.com's own reviewers are insisting that certain people must be expunged from a movie's production because they have a history of immoral behavior in order to help improve the movie, as Brian Orndorf did regarding Max Landis in his review of Shadow in the Cloud, a movie that seems bad enough to simply tear apart on the merits alone, then that attitude is going to continue in a large enough population for it to concern Criterion and its bottom line. |

But not every label got attacked in The New York Times for its lack of minority representation. They've obviously become very conscious of their social standing, and releasing a Roman Polanski movie would probably conflict with that goal. |

The CC needs to make a change to whatever service they're using for manufacturing and/or assembling their product. I ordered a couple discs on their last 30% off sale. Both arrived today with the covers sticking out from the BD case. One was so far our that it was practically bent over the top edge under the shrink wrap and torn at the spine. This isn't the first time something like this has happened since they stopped shipping out of their NY office, either. I know they'll send me a replacement, but what a waste of their money.

Death and the Maiden has recently popped up on streaming services like Prime and Kanopy. I'm really hoping someone has that one. I love Weaver in that film. I'd love a Criterion of it.
