Do I regret anything I've done? Absolutely not.

I'll tell you the reasons.
  1. I might decide to return all of these titles and get a refund, especially the DVDs as I'm realizing that I made a compulsive purchase based on a whim.
  2. I'm curious to see what a first-time scalper feels like and as an experiment I want to see if I feel despicable after doing this. Hey, you only live once.
  3. I often enjoy the thrill of finding rare collectibles in the moment but later on I don't feel contentment anymore after my discovery. That goes back to point #1 of most likely returning the DVDs as I have no use for them.
  4. Being currently unemployed, getting $100 for a rare OOP title would help my living situation just a tad, at least paying off next month's utilities.

In terms of the cost of gas, I figured that was a sarcastic remark, as I basically spent $1-2 on the driving back and forth to the store which is hardly anything in my view.

Basically to sum up my post, I am most likely going to return the Criterion DVDs to the shop to let others have the opportunity to buy them as opposed to me trying to make money off of them online. The blu-rays I might keep though (one as a backup copy, and one to sell online). If anyone has a problem with that, sue me.
Karma.

I hope Peterloo is in the pipeline!

Would also love Landline, but I don’t know if that did well enough or has as high of a profile to be considered for Criterion.

Personally I think it's a terrible film (and I like the original) and having watched Jellyfish Eyes just this week I'm sure it would be nice for Murakami to have something else in the running for worst film in the collection.

Also as far as extras go, although I'm sure they cut a lot I read something from Baron-Cohen saying that a lot of the time he's writing and rewriting right up until shooting but they only get one actual take, so unless they cut some good stuff for length there might not be much worthwhile to add.

I hope to see a standalone release of The Last Picture Show sometime this year. Criterion already has it in a boxed set.

You could use the $153 you just spent on those Criterions to do that.

AKA how to distract us from the OOP news LOL
Surprised "Small Axe" isn't apparently in this deal, but won't be surprised if that eventually becomes a Criterion release.

Now the optimist in me hopes the continued working with Amazon leads to releases of "The Handmaiden" (with both edits of the film) and "Suspiria".

So there was another person before you who she saw buying all of the remaining OOP Criterions in the store? Hmm...

Yes, I'm going to return the 3 OOP DVDs and get $100 back at least.

She didn't say how many they bought but apparently someone bought the more "wanted" titles such as Nashville, Don't Look Now, and Days of Heaven. You snooze, you lose!

You know...this term "scalper" comes from waaaay back... and was usually never a good character trait...

https://www.etymonline.com/word/scalper

The term often identified "providing something for a fraction" rather than satisfying a genuine exchange. And this arguably applies to the soul, as well.

And what do we make of the history of America and various Native American philosophies?

https://www.americanheritage.com/who-invented-scalping

But I suppose we all like to explore the dark side once in a while...

Perhaps they were wearing those see-through masks.

Yes, exploring one's dark side could be good, so as to know where one's moral compass stands. I obviously have done some self-discovery on this on a "scalpist" level. Perhaps its not something to be proud of, but its always important to be honest with oneself.

One copy of Criterion's Rosemary's Baby left on Amazon.nl. Managed to grab a copy with € 10 discount (AMAZONAPP10) for € 38,87. Not too bad

I just found out there's some more copies of Don't Look Now in stock at another Barnes & Noble! I'm going to head down there later and buy ONE copy just for myself! Yes, me, me, me! Nobody else. Because I don't actually own this yet.

A miracle happened today.

Amazon delivered my sealed copy of Harold and Maude in perfect condition despite the horrible packaging (:

I really did luck out buying most of the Paramount titles last B&N sale I feel awful for people having to pay scalper prices now

How fortuitous... I've actually been in the process for downsizing my collection by about 2/3, and a few of these OOP Criterions were on the "give away to friends or library" pile, but now I think I'll sell them. Definitely keeping most of them though.

my collection that I have with me as it stands after the Flash Sale. Wish I had all my Criterions here. I will have to get a bigger shelf for them when I get them from storage.
