I got one from target that seemed to be a reshrinked one. It also was missing a blue sticker as well that usually has it.

I once bought a criterion from somewhere, they only sent a blue sticker and nothing else...it made my day...

A few years ago I bought L'Avventura from one of the B&N sales and it came with the blu-ray sized artwork in a dvd case, didn't open it to see what was inside though, exchanged that immediately . Also had a copy of The Emigrants/The New Land from Amazon that was obviously re-wrapped and was missing the first disc.

I got one from the recent flash sale that was missing the director approved signature sticker. After collecting for so long I really don't care. What do you guys do with them, stick them to the box?

Cut out and put inside the case. My personal satisfaction every time I open it up that I definitely have it "Director's Approved." OCD, but
I keep all artist-related stickers from outer-CDs, as well.

The only item I ever laughed at was a couple instore copies with Criterion Artwork in a Blue Case -- not named Benjamin Button which did come with a normal Blue Case and Slipcover originally.

I showed those two to the Media Manager back when there was such a thing and he immediately opened them and attached a sticky note. Very likely was a return accepted by the front clerks who had no idea they were being scammed. One of them had some cheap DVD inside, the other appeared to be a genuine Criterion BD.

Having just given the film a rewatch, IMO one of the great performances by a largely unknown actor is Walter McGinn as the recruiter in "The Parallax View". Sadly, McGinn passed away in a car accident in 1977 at the young age of 40 before he was able to do a ton of screen work, but his turn in "The Parallax View" is one of the great portrayals of shadowy, bland, suited menace in cinema. Had McGinn lived, he certainly would have been in the JT Walsh/James Rebhorn/James B. Sikking school of gifted character actors who are able to wonderfully convey bureaucratic soullessness and menace.

Checked my local records stores, no dice.

A B&N ~30 miles away has 2 of the OOP titles available for pickup. Another one ~25 miles away in the opposite direction has another one of the titles. Tempting. If one of them was Nashville I might do it. But it would be a blind buy for me.

I'm fortunate to already have Rosemary's Baby and Days of Heaven.

I'm completely indifferent to the regular Blue Stickers. When I unwrap the cellophane, it goes in the trash with the sticker still attached.

On the other hand, the "Director Approved" Blue Stickers (especially those with the "autograph") get carefully removed from the cellophane and attached to the front of the case.

Of course, I also on occasion get Criteria used at Bull Moose or elsewhere, and those never have the stickers, so...

I hope it’s ok to post this here: if anyone has an extra copy of Harold and Maude and/or Days of Heaven on blu that they’d sell for a fair price please let me know. I was waiting to get paid and by the time I did they had both dried up.

Yeah, I actually looked up McGinn, and remembered that he also had a key role in my other favorite 70s paranoia classic, Three Days of the Condor. (Also co-written by Lorenzo Semple, too.) McGinn is excellent in that as well, as a likable sucker lured in to try and kill Redford. I would’ve loved to see all the different character roles he was born to play.

Just had that happen with the flash sale. One of the titles had no blue sticker and was shrink-wrapped. No big deal. The disc and booklet inside were pristine. If only I could say the same for the digipak that came with (gray/white) sticker and cellophane wrap, the DVD had come loose in transit and was scratched. Again, no big deal, I don't use the DVD's anyway and the blu-ray was fine.

To summarize for everyone-

Per Mulvaney, Eddie Coyle is not going out of print. It will be restocked, as will Medium Cool.

Here are the six now out of print Paramount titles:

La Dolce Vita
Rosemary’s Baby
Don’t Look Now
Harold and Maude
Nashville
Days of Heaven

No other titles are scheduled to go OOP anytime soon. And yes, La Dolce Vita will continue to be included in the Fellini set. It appears Criterion only lost the license to distribute the film individually.
Such a bummer. I sold all of my Criterion titles near the beginning of the pandemic.

You're the same guy who said the Criterions weren't going OOP in the first place, right?

If they do get the rights to them again, it'll likely be in the 5-10 year range before it happens. The first edition of Army of Shadows went OOP in 2013 and didn't make its way back into the collection until 2020. Same thing with Pierrot le fou.

I stick mine back to the box. It takes me like 3 minutes to do that because I'm super careful about affixing it so that it isn't crooked. makes me happy, though. I haven't allocated time to do that for every title, so I have a drawer with about a dozen or so blue stickers that I haven't put back on yet.

I don't, overtime if they come off there could be residue on the box which is irritating to me. I usually save a bit of the cellophane with the actual sticker stuck to it, but only for the signature ones.
