God help me, I just dropped 95 bucks on The Human Condition and Center Stage (from Film Movement). And I already ordered Indiana Jones, My Fair Lady, and Primal this month. My wallet hurts soooo bad.

I work at a DVD store and was excited to talk with folks today about the repress of the Y Tu Mama Tambien being released today, but...I couldn't find any mention of it on the internet anywhere. It's not on amazon or criterion's website. Is it supposed to be a secret or something? Same deal for Love Streams in a few weeks.

After watching "Bo Burnham: Inside" on Netflix last night, has Criterion ever released "a comedy special" before? Because this would be one hell of a get for them.

Words Words Words is the only Burnham that ever got a physical release AFAIK, and that was only on DVD. what. and Make Happy were both streaming-only.

Quick question: Been ages since I last bought some CC discs from amazon.com but used to pre-order all new releases. How long does it usually take some to list the new Criterion pre-orders nowadays?

Would love to pre-order After Life.

After watching the Human Condition this past weekend, it made me really hope that Samurai Rebellion is in the pipeline with Criterion. One of Kobayashi's best and probably final masterpiece.

Oh, hellssss yessss!

https://www.criterion.com/boxsets/47...les-four-films

Quote:
Melvin Van Peebles: Four Films
Director, writer, composer, actor, and one-man creative revolutionary Melvin Van Peebles jolted American independent cinema to new life with his explosive stylistic energy and unfiltered expression of Black consciousness. Though he undeniably altered the course of film history with the anarchic Sweet Sweetback’s Baadasssss Song, that pop-culture bombshell is just one piece of a remarkably varied career that has also encompassed forays into European art cinema (The Story of a Three Day Pass), mainstream Hollywood comedy (Watermelon Man), and Broadway musicals (Don’t Play Us Cheap). Each facet of Van Peebles’s renegade genius is on display in this collection of four films, a tribute to a transformative artist whose caustic social observation, radical formal innovation, and uncompromising vision established a new cinematic model for Black creative independence. Also included in the set is Baadasssss!, a chronicle of the production of Sweet Sweetback made by Van Peebles’s son Mario Van Peebles—and starring the younger Van Peebles as Melvin.

Very happy to see the Van Peebles Set, and I see it's taking up 5 spine numbers so the rest of September's announcements are likely to take us to 1100 (which is as arbitrary a number as any other but the round ones always feel like a milestone.)

Is there a list anywhere of 20th Century Fox titles that Criterion has the rights to that they haven’t released yet?

Thread is surprisingly (and disappointingly) dead for a box set announcement
