It's weird, every time I ask a girl on a date to go buy Salò, or the 120 Days of Sodom during the Barnes & Noble 50% off Criterion sale, they never reply and then they block my number.

What am I doing wrong?

Somehow I missed this but Criterion and Studiocanal teamed up to work on new 4K restorations for a couple of Soviet films that were directed by Kira Muratova ('Brief Encounters' and 'The Long Farewell'), and they will be premiering at the Ritrovoto Festival this year. I've never heard of her or the films but it's cool that Criterion are working on lesser known Soviet titles that aren't from Mosfilm.

It was a limited edition steelbook with no word on a regular edition.

If I had to hazard a guess that aligns with my religiously held belief that Criterion is working on a Kurosawa box set for the end of this year, it's that Lionsgate got this limited license for the steelbook and nothing else. Criterion got the rest after that.

That was a Best Buy exclusive steelbook that was released in October/November of 2021. Unlike some of the other Best Buy steelbooks, this was in print for a few months (longer than the average amount of time it takes for other Best Buy steelbooks to go OOP) and was only $19.99. However, it removes most of the extras from the older Lionsgate Blu-ray. Great steelbook and all, it's unfortunate there hasn't been any word on a standard version. Lionsgate only released this as a steelbook and digital for streaming purchases like iTunes. They did the same thing with Dirty Dancing.

Steelbook comes with a wonderful slipcover. Don't know if Criterion can release this since I have no idea what's going on with the rights other than Lionsgate releasing this so I'm assuming they may still have it. Hoping it may get in the AK boxset that people are talking about, but I have no idea if Criterion even plans for has making the boxset in the first place, to be honest. This entire AK boxset thing, from what I remember, only seems to have been talked by fans so this idea still remains as a rumor.
