Someone gave away a stack of movies at my wife's office yesterday. (This happened before but nothing worth writing about.) Yesterday, she brought home 3 Criterion Blu-rays!
  • Stalker by Andrei Tarkovsky (1979)
  • Days of Heaven by Terrence Malick (1978)
  • Au Revoir Les Enfants by Louis Malle (1987)

It reminds me of being lost on a back road in Tijuana and trying to drive and read the free gas station supplied road map at the same time. Who needs to be reminded of that when you want to learn more about a movie and it's not TOUCH OF EVIL?

Would love if Criterion cared to rescue the Fox Borzage silents from mouse house hell. A French label put a number of them on Blu-ray nearly thirteen years ago but they've been largely ignored stateside for some reason.

Undercrank Productions recently released this two disc set. I don't think they are from his Fox years, but you may be interested anyways.

I'm learning about some French New Wave on Tubi with my firestick 4K max! The Man Who Loved Women (1977 film)

I also picked up a digital copy of Portrait of Madame Yuki (1950 film) but it is free on Tubi for now.

I think more people should get used to tragic films and stories because life isn't a bowl of cherries and we die fast or get gonorrhea and un-shockingly 50% of teenagers today are unhappy depressed or feel they have no purpose in this current world/life. I am with them but I am Generation X. Tarantino never made a good film he just made sleezy entertainment and of course that sells.

Amazingly, not the first use of the word gonorrhea in this thread. We have Ray Jackson to thank for the other time.

Just bought Martin Scorsese World Cinema Project Vol 1 at a Bookoff on my vacation for $80. I know it’s cheaper on Amazon, but it came with everything and was in very good condition.

Buying during a vacation and not getting a deal is a rite of passage so you are doing fine.

Interestingly, I thank Zeus everyday that I'm not a teenager these days.

It has to be the first time Gonorrhea and Tarantino were mentioned in the same paragraph.

People will get mad at me all they want but I think Up and Coco should be the next Pixar movies to be included in the collection.

I kinda think The Incredibles deserves it a bit more, but if I couldn't pick The Incredibles, I would pick one of those two.

Some people in a Discord were concerned about Criterion releasing Pixar movies and working with John Lasseter because of his history, and in the back of my head, I was all "I have bad news about Terry Gilliam."

To my knowledge, Gilliam never harassed anyone. He's put some people in peril during a few of his shoots but that's a normal day for de Mille.

Throw a couple of extraneous commas into this paragraph and it would read like a classic piece of Slimdude wisdom.
