I'm 100% in for Mean Streets and Days of Heaven 4Ks. Can we also appreciate the stellar artwork Sister Hyde does for Criterion?

I watched Al Momia yesterday for the first time. What a great film. It's haunting, and surreal at times. The Thebes setting, with its dark, and brooding atmosphere is almost a character in itself, not unlike Venice in Don't Look Now. Hopefully Criterion includes it with their next WCF collection.

Yeah, I think 1200 is going to be an Ozu boxset. I wonder how many titles this will include if it in fact happens.

I would enjoy a Blu or a 4K of Twelve O’Clock High for spine 1200. But I doubt that would be a big enough title for that number.

Tbh I think the set would still be worth it. It really kinda puts BBS & Rafelson into perspective. Head & King of Marvin Gardens are quite incredible. And Drive, He Said is quite an interesting curiosity to see Nicholson at the helm. And when I heard the theme song, I was like that’s where the Coens got that track for Lebowski! I didn’t really vibe on the Jaglom film, but it was cool to see an ageist Welles pop up.

I said to him that I was a huge fan of Days of Heaven and he got the biggest most genuine smile on his face and shook my hand.

An Ozu box for spine 1200 would be amazing, but it’s going to be Twelve O’Clock High 4K…the first post-Disney 4K scan of a 20th Century Fox catalog title. Just remember you read it here first

Strong month. Definitely in for Mean Streets, The Last Picture Show, and Days of Heaven. For some reason, I never picked up the Malick before it went OOP. Used to look at it every B&N/Flash sale, but always passed it up for another title.

I’m a little biased on TKOMG, but you get to see my area just before the casinos moved in. The nice, big, great buildings of the 1800s and early 1900s, well they weren’t so nice and great anymore. The older resorts had had their moment in the sun. At the same time the casinos and hotels that would rise in the years to follow had yet to be built. It’s very surreal to say the least. Add to that the great performances and it’s just an all around masterpiece. Crazy that so many films that are among the greatest ever made are in one set: Easy Rider, TKOMG, TLPS, those are three films that movies just wouldn’t be the same without.

It is possible spine 1200 could just be a regular title. Spine 1100 turned out to be The Incredible Shrinking Man. A good announcement, but nothing major. But I'll remain hopeful for something big since I'm a glass half-full kind of guy, at least, 50% of the time.

You literally can’t even make it past two laserdiscs or one DVD without finding one that’s OOP.
James Bond films included? I’d say the first three 3 Connery films along with perhaps OHMSS are the Bond films Criterion could get away with releasing without sacrificing any of their cultural capital.

I haven't seen it but from what I've heard it's very underrated. Jonathan Rosembaum included it in his top 1000 films of all-time. Hopefully a Bogdanovich renaissance is upon us and we'll see his masterpiece Daisy Miller get a release along with They All Laughed and Nickelodeon.

Would it be reasonable to say Criterion will likely release as many UHDs for Scorsese and Lynch as they possibly can?

I'd imagine CC had (or maybe still has) several Scorsese projects queued up and ready to release. I like how the UHD releases don't typically adhere to the unwritten rule that a director can't get films released in consecutive months.

I just want some Harmony Korine Blu-rays (if not 4Ks) of Gummo, Julien Donkey-Boy, and Mister Lonely. But mainly Gummo.
