I’m not an AL expert, but couldn’t that easily be fit between three or four Blu-rays? This seems like an obvious 1200, with at least The Red Balloon and White Mane.

Otherwise you will have to wait for another US release down the line whenever.
While I don’t know all of those that have the Drafthouse rights in the US, my spidey senses say Arrow will be the ones to drop Wake In Fright.

It would need both cuts. Most likely a reconstruction of the DC would look something like the reconstructions of Greed, Metropolis (the 1984 Moroder cut and the 1987 restoration), Lost Horizon, and A Star Is Born 54. Like those, many people hate watching them because of the stop-and-start nature of the reconstructions. In all cases, multiple cuts should be made available. Criterion would do both cuts of Ambersons if a reconstruction were created or if by some miraculous chance the original cut was found.

Fun Fact: Maurice LaMarche's voice for the Brain is a combination of Welles and Price.

It looks like a regular Digipak with a custom added layer on the front, allowing for the nose to pull out and retract.

edit: Looking at it again, maybe it doesn't retract, as it looks like it's all made on the same layer, so maybe it just folds in/out.

My guess is it will fold out when completely opened and then retract once closed.

Still no Kurosawa box set?

Nice announcements, though. The Red Balloon and White Mane are beautiful films. Will be nice to get that release in particular.

Pretty sure they'll announce each title individually. After everyone's bought those... Then it's time for the box set.

BLAST OF SILENCE for me. I no longer have the old Criterion DVD of it.

Does anyone know if the DVD offered the film in both 1:85-1 and 1:33-1? I don't recall both aspect ratios being provided on it.

I guess a Kurosawa box set is probably back into first place of “the Japanese box set with the highest odds of happening” seeing that the Ozu box never manifested itself despite the anniversary year.
