Yes. There are many films I've not particularly cared for, then read more about and ended up liking as a result.

Sure, sometimes things just aren't to your taste, that happens, but "why do people enjoy this?" is not an absurd question to ask.

Director Rebecca Miller's (aka Mrs. Daniel Day-Louis) Closet picks. Some unique picks compared to most of these vids, and I enjoyed her input on them.

Also Arthur Miller’s daughter, also a director of multiple movies.

Men do things, women are related to men who do things. Once you notice the pattern it becomes very obvious and irritating.

Possibly the worst example I've ever seen:

I do see that happen unfortunately, but that was definitely not my intent. I did address her as Director Rebecca Miller at the start of my post, and I just learned she's also married to Day-Louis when looking her up, so I added that info in parentheses as well in case others didn't know either. I wasn't sure how to phrase it to be honest, so I do apologize if it seemed to make light of her own work in any way.

I think you are making up the pattern in this case. Pointing out that someone is related to someone more famous can totally be gender neutral. It is sometimes just an interesting factoid.
But be offended if you like.

Not to pile on, but Rebecca Miller's husband, whom some may know as the son of poet Cecil Day-Lewis (he also acted in some films), is Daniel Day-LEWIS.

As for the Closet Picks videos, Hideo Kojima's visit was the best one I've ever seen. He went out of his way to address younger people that may not have known anything about the films he chose and he expressed himself in a eloquently heartfelt way why these movies are important and need to be seen. In other words, he took the responsibility of having his shopping trip being recorded seriously and was able to really share his unique perspective on film history. That's more than most of the "celebrity visitors" seem capable of doing and it was a joy to watch, like a tiny fragment of a solid film study class.

He finished filming it about 35 years ago. He doesn’t control the home video rights and I doubt cares. So what answer are you looking for him to give to her?

"Honey, tell Shane he's a great guy and I love him like a brother and I will do everything in my power to make sure that film I made 35 years ago will get a state of the art 4K release. And also remind me to send Shane a friend request at the forum as I need him on my list! Oh and remind him that my Username on the forum is "Bates Motel" so he knows it's me that is sending the request."

Kojima's one of my life heroes. I loved his recommendations and as someone who's half Japanese I can confirm he's right, most people my age don't know those movies at all. I had the Ozu one (Late Spring?) but hadn't watched it yet, so will be watching it soon. All his other picks are among my favorites too.
