Yes, current stock only, not preorders. Yes, their sales are both 50% off the MSRP of every Criterion. B&N and Criterion sales don't happen at the same time, if that's what you're asking. Criterion's is only a 24 hour Flash Sale, while B&N's is usually around a month long.

Thanks this helps. Considering Jackie Chan collection is the only one that won’t be available when criterion has their sale this month. But it sounds like it will reach the B&N free, shipping threshold. So I can buy the three from criterion, and the last one from Barnes & Noble.

Criterion and B&N have the same price during their sales? I always thought B&N charged a lot more. Perhaps I'm wrong. Their non-sale prices are always higher. Typical Blu-ray, $39.99 compared to $31.96 from Criterion direct.

The half off is from the MSRP. The MSRP is the same everywhere. The half off is the same amount.

Yes, they each have two annual sales -- Criterion 24 hour Flash and B&N month long -- and they're both 50% off everything in stock (no preorders beyond the sale date). B&N has other sales throughout the year, but twice a year in July and Nov is the big one. Newbies post about the others, but I can always wait another month or two for the big one.

So to confirm. If Criterion offer most of their 4k releases for $19.99 during their flash sale, B&N will do the same during their month long sale? If so it takes the pressure off me this month so will be really useful to know.

I meant would he happen to have any pull whatsoever in getting it out on Blu-ray or 4K. Sometimes when an actor gets involved it can move the needle. It just sucks that there's only a few OOP DVDs of that movie. I don't even know if it's on streaming. I just bought it on tape (from a nitwit who himself only bought it because he assumed Orion equals horror), and it was amazing. The tape barely worked, but it was still amazing. |
