I think this is theri 3rd sale since raising the FS to $75. This is first sale they've actually required it, b/c the previous 2 allowed $75 calculated from the normal stoer price (about 20% off). Last sale there were some orders around $45 in the cart that still got FS>

Looks like the Wachowskis' first film Bound is coming to Criterion, per the sound designer. There's a Blu from Olive Films, but it's a truly underrated film and is yet another directorial debut that is deserving of the "wacky C"

I have that Olive Films release and the packaging is really dope so I dunno that I'd swap it out, but dope that Criterion is doin it. Great flick

This order did push things over the edge for the $50 gift card, so I'm contemplating making a second order. Problem is, I'm not sure what to order next, I have all the Blus I really want for now. Could nab some DVDs (like Kanal or the Proletariat Trilogy), but I'd rather not. So I might have to take the chance on a blind-buy, and I've been eyeballing that Apu trilogy. What's everyone's consensus on those movies? Would it be recommended?

The "Olive Signature" edition is one of my favorite releases from them, but I'm 100% going to upgrade it. Incredibly fun movie and would be a top-tier 4K release with a new master. The Wachowskis were playing with fire right out of the gate and it's kind of neat how Bound has more or less the same technical crew as The Matrix.

While I love to get 'em, I kind of hate to use them up too quickly. I like having 'freebies' in reserve. Nice thing about the Criterion $50 coupons is that they last indefinitely.
If there isn't anything you're absolutely sure of now, they'll could always come in handy down the road. And who knows what else will get announced between now and October?

That said, the Apu trilogy is widely regarded as world cinema classics. If the material piques your interest, and you were planning on giving them a shot at some point, I don't think you'll get many people dissuading you from taking a chance on them now.

Took a second sip when I realized how close I was to a fifty dollar gift card, but I took a different tack:

Two eclipse sets and one more blu. I fully expect a round of thanks should any of the Lubitsch or Korda titles be announced for blu releases in the next few months. Speaking of Lubitsch, why hasn't Criterion announced a blu upgrade for Trouble in Paradise yet? Get with it, Criterion!
Anyway, I just received my fifty dollar code, but I'm going to put it in reserve for the October sale.

As others have mentioned earlier in this thread, it was difficult to choose titles that would be less likely to receive the 4K treatment. Out of the titles I ordered, I feel only Exotica could possibly get a better release in the near future, perhaps from Arrow? Criterion really dropped the ball on this. It should have been a 4K release.
