Jackie Brown and the two Kill Bill movies are coming to 4K from Lionsgate, so no Criterion release for that one

There's also a listing for a newly restored Fox Film Corporation pre-code, Man Trouble (1930), so depending on Criterion/Disney's relationship, that may or may not be an option as well.

I hope the 4Ks come out before I die.

And I hope The Whole Bloody Affair's included!

I'm sure this is probably known already, but Barbet Schroeder's Maîtresse (Mistress) (1976) Tricheurs (Cheaters) (1984), and La vallée (The Valley aka Obscured by Clouds). (1972). will all be playing at MoMA in the upcoming week, courtesy of Janus films. The former two are on the Criterion Channel.

I can imagine Maitresse being an interesting one to watch with a crowd.

MK2/Hiventy/CNC have restored Shoot the Piano Player in 4K HDR - wouldn’t be surprised if some of the other restorations of Wenders/Bresson get licensed to Criterion.

The recent Brooks documentary spent more time than I expected on Mother, and I think he considers it his most personal film by far, so I wouldn’t be surprised if he really pushed to make it happen.

Looks like Les Amants du Pont Neuf is free from Miramax jail. Wonder who'll get that in the US.

Hopefully good news. Rales is a multi-billionaire, so it should hopefully provide Criterion/Janus with the financial backing they need for the future.

Man, I think people should do a little more homework on this guy because um, big red flag yikes.

Criterion must’ve been in a really, really, monumentally bad place.

I'm sure he is a film fan and probably sees propping up Criterion as a philanthropic move, but yeh you don't get to be a billionaire without crushing a good many people

Business, strictly business.

Of course, he could just treat Criterion/Janus as a trophy purchase and at his age, that makes sense. I just wouldn’t expect anything to change if this is just another shiny trophy on his mantle. But his past as a vulture is highly concerning.

That unfortunately does happen often with these pharmaceutical companies, and it's shameful. It looks like that particular subsidiary was acquired by Rales' parent company (which he co-owns with his brother) in 2016. Thankfully with some pressure, prices appear to have come down for some of the drugs, but still some ways to go.
