Hopefully soon! But I still ordered the Blu from Australia to hold me over.

I’ve been watching all of his films on Max and he’s on a short list of my very favorite directors.

I think he’s a legitimate genius.
The box has problems and the packaging sucks. But I don’t regret buying it. I’m glad I still have my original ITMFL blu as a supplement though and wish I had the Chungking Express one too.

Here’s what I’ve picked up within the last week or so from two different Barnes and Noble.

The Cure
The Philadelphia Story
Crossing Delancey
Sorcerer
The Grifters
The Flight of the Phoenix
Deep Cover

All are blind buys. So hopefully I enjoy them all. Which of these films should I prioritize watching first?

For me, while watching, none of the changes bothered me much, I just really dug watching all the films again. Only one film I hadn't seen before.

(But in general I do not appreciate obvious color timing changes (where white is no longer white for example), so I'm not quite that easy.)

Well worth the cost to me, in spite of the sucky packaging.

But I'm also holding on to my older copies of these movies and still intend to go back and watch them too.
What’s wrong with the packaging?

Picked up my 23 most wanted titles from the sale. Will probably pick up 3-4 titles for the October sale, but my main goal is to save up to get the Wes Anderson set for the November B&N sale.

Oh, it's some cardboard wraparound fold up thingamajig. It's been a while since I put it away so the particulars fail me, but this site's packaging pictures give a pretty good idea of what it's like. I store it flat inside a file drawer.

WKW’s changes go beyond color. He bizarrely stretched the 1.85:1 picture of Fallen Angels to ‘scope 2.40:1. It’s ghastly. Also he created all-new digital end credit sequences.

Sorcerer, The Grifters and Deep Cover (this Blu-ray has a superb transfer too).

Criterion has a weird obsession with folding paper.

Origami? Maybe due to residual focus on Japanese films.

I see Criterion still hasn't fixed their scratched disc issue. I bought Brazil, and 2 out of the three discs were scratched to hell, and now I remember why I stopped buying Criterion releases—they're the worst next to Shout, with discs being absolutely thrashed.

I think he is as well.

I got the box in the first sale after it was released, and I had to have all but the first disc replaced. There was no problem with that at all, tho.

Since the discs would hang about 3/4 of the way through each film, I kept having to finish the movies streaming on CC. While I can't compare quality among different disc editions, I can absolutely assure you that the films looked awful streaming after I'd watched the first 3/4 on disc.

What are the chances that Criterion releases stand alone 4K editions of Days Of Being Wild, As Tears Go By and 2046?

I don’t know who owns the rights.

Luckily I have many of the earlier disc releases. Minor annoyance in the grand scheme of things, I just went with the flow, turns out it didn't hurt me any.

Same river, many years later. Just like me. Life goes on.

Which of his films did he bugger & which previous release of the buggered titles should I be getting instead?

I didn't open that one, but I did several others and no scratches on any of them. Actually even the booklets seemed to be undamaged.

Which I know was just a fluke… but I quit while I was ahead, as I got pretty tired the longer I stayed up early this a.m.…

Must say though I don't recall seeing any of them stamped with Made In Mexico on the back… (maybe they're too embarassed to do that any more?) I pretty much just stuck with things released since the last b&n Criterion sale.

Yup, for me. But may not be an issue at this point as that was years ago.

That’s what I’m wondering about.

If it was just an issue with the first pressing, that’s been fixed subsequently.

From Billy Beta @criterionforum:

I’ll take it with a as grain of salt until they’re released and have therefore not created any new threads in the main 4K area:

Quote:
Three upcoming (or whenever they're going to find time to release them...) Criterion titles are: Deliverance, Point Blank and Scorsese's Alice Doesn't Live Here Anymore. Don't ask me how I found out. x
