But before that comes out, I still need to see 1) Dallas Buyers Club and 2) The Great Beauty. They're playing until the 13th at the Manor. Have you seen those yet?

Funny you say that because I'm actually watching Dallas Buyers Club right now. I like it enough so far, though I don't think it will have replay value for me.

The Great Beauty is a visually beautiful film, but I honestly wasn't into it that much. It felt too much like a lesser La Dolce Vita.

PLEASE DON'T TELL ME that you're watching the movie in the actual movie theater while you're responding to me here...right? I am shuddering at that mere thought! But I guess the film is out on Netflix/Blu-ray now, so if thats the case, quite cool.

I cannot wait for that new Wes Anderson movie.

No, no, I would never do that. I rented it at Redbox.

Oh no, I was just referring to the fact that Grand Budapest will be playing there in 2 weeks.

Really, I try not to use my phone or the internet when watching a movie at home, but sometimes, that's hard to do.

I shut off everything, including the lights, before watching a film at night.

Default New Criterion Blu ray dual format packaging

Sorry if I am bringing up an old subject, I just recently got Fantastic Mr. Fox Criterion. I haven't bought a later release Criterion in a while and I did know about their dual format releases. My question is I am a tad disappointed in the all cardboard packaging on this title. I REALLY loved the wide plastic cases they usually were packaged in. Is this the packaging going forward? I have a hard time thinking that the cardboard packaging is going to look great 10 years from now on my shelf.

Thanks for any replies.....

Yeah, most releases with one Blu-ray and two DVDs will have those cardboard cases. I really enjoy the look of them, even though they are HUGE.

Anyways, I bought Breathless today from B&N. With the combination of snail mail coupons, membership discount and the 20% discount already on the new release, That's one fine deal for a film that I haven't seen.

It's clever marketing, as doing this "Wider but still not wide" limited release means anyone who really wants to see it will go and see it and tell everyone else how much they like it (as, if they really do want to see it, they're much more likely to like it than Joe Public) for two months.
The Grand Budapest Hotel is fantastic. Probably Anderson's best film.

I dislike them because of the size. Fantastic Mr Fox is alot wider than Fanny & Alexander even. It is comparable to Berlin Alexanderplatz on the shelf lol ... I don't like it. Looking at the slimmer ones like Repo Man I dislike these new ones even more. Plus, if youre selling off the DVDs then youre basically left with a s**t-ton of useless cardboard on your shelf.

I ordered single cases from Criterion to use in place of the cardboard cases and double cases from castopia. I went online to print covers for the cases. Here are the links:
http://www.casetopia.com/product_p/br1-cri.htm
http://www.dvd-covers.org/art/Blu_Ra...Custom_Covers/
I like the cover of Harakiri much more than the Criterion version.

Yes, I get the feeling that people who are usually not Wes Anderson fans will still love this one (provided they go in with an open mind, of course).

Cronenberg Set
Eraserhead
Fiend Without a Face
Sisters
And another surprise or two
I wonder how many Octobers in a row people have thought that...

Eraserhead was hinted on New Years Day in 2012 right? That's two years ago! I'm guessing they went to much effort if they are in fact releasing it.

I didn't say they won't release it, I'm just saying people have expected it for Octobers previously, and it has rolled on past.
