If the 15th falls on a weekend, the announcements are delayed to Monday (or Tuesday, if there's a Monday holiday, which there isn't this time).

Also it's absolutely criminal that this film does not have a BD release yet.
Out of the Past rocketed to my all-time favorite movie spot when I saw the DVD on a high definition television at long last. I've always loved the movie, but seeing it on a decent set really made all of the difference in the world. I keep fantasizing about how great this movie would look with a good high definition transfer.

I could write about Out of the Past for hours, because this movie just blows me away.

The snappy dialogue is wonderful...

"She can't be all bad. No one is."
"Well, she comes the closest."

"I sell gasoline, I make a small profit. With that I buy groceries. The grocer makes a profit. We call it earning a living. You may have heard of it somewhere."

"You're like a leaf that the wind blows from one gutter to another."

"Oh, Jeff, I don't want to die!"
"Neither do I, baby, but if I have to I'm gonna die last."

"Funny racket to find you in, Jeff."
"Yeah, me and the kid laugh all the time."

"Don't you see you've only me to make deals with now?"
"Build my gallows high, baby."

The Tenant has been one of my guesses for upcoming titles for a while. It should be a given considering it's Polanski, part of a "trilogy", and an OOP Paramount title (they've licensed some of those to Criterion in the past). I'm quite shocked it hasn't even been hinted at yet, although there was speculation that the apartment complex from 2013's drawing might've been a hint for it.

I was browsing the Criterion website and saw the title Scanners. I haven't seen the film yet, but by the synopsis it seems to be that the TV show Believe has drawn upon some ideas of this film. For those of you who have seen both, is my initial impression correct? I think I'll eventually purchase this film regardless.

L'Eclisse and All That Heaven Allows are both waiting for me at the Barnes & Noble on the way home from work. I'm going to try to use a 20% coupon in addition to the current sale.

An entry for Z has appeared on this very site's database - do the admins know something we don't?

Dunno if it means anything in particular but Amazon's only selling it through fullfillment - does this mean maybe they've run out of stock of their own and Criterion isn't sending out replacements, implying an imminent re-release?

It's still selling from Amazon proper. Entries here are generated sometimes for films that have nothing near announced, so I also wouldn't take that as a sign.

June 29
The Third Man @ 2:00 P.M.
The Fallen Idol @ 10:00 P.M.

June 30
Jeanne Dielman, 23 Quai Du Commerce... @ 2:00 A.M.

I have seen all of the films listed above except for Seconds and Jeanne Dielman. I know that some of you also set the TIVO/DVR days ahead of time for these showings, but I figure this list may still help a few people. From what I recall, Scottie already gave members a heads up on the 3 Colors Trilogy, but I thought I should list it again anyways.

I guess I may have missed one or two for the remainder of this month, but I'm quite sure all of the Criterion titles are on here.
How do you get information on what's playing more than 2 weeks ahead? As far as I'm aware the online and DVR guides only look ahead 2 weeks. (Great info. by the way!)

EDIT: Nevermind! I'm only thinking in terms of DirecTV. Of course you can get information further out from TCM, duh!

Anyone from the site can make a listing. It is more than likely a regular user with high hopes that made that placeholder in the database.

TCM's website has their schedule far beyond a Tivo or cable guide.

Hey, I just got back from a 3 week trip overseas and I'm sad to say that I wasn't checking this forum once while away! So I can't even imagine what I've missed in the last few weeks. If anyone here has the patience to give me a quick update on any major discussions related to Criterion, I'd be really happy. I'm looking forward to the new September announcements on Monday.

There's been a 40% off sale going on at Barnes 'N Noble and the 50% sale begins on July 1. That's about it.

I hope you had a pleasant trip.

Out of the Past will be on TCM on July 24 so I'll record it to watch then. I saw it about 6 or 7 years ago on DVD but I don't think it had my full attention. Love the lines that Owl quoted.

Oh, that debate is still raging on, eh? Well, I'm wondering just how many discussions on the digipack dilemma have taken place since I left. I'm sure plenty.

Hey! I only said I wished Judex and Hearts & Mind would be nicer in digipak :P!

Picnic was a lovely digipak release which made me happy <3 lol

I think I am going to make a new version of this thread for us Digipak lovers - you Plastic case lovers can bog off! :P
