Dr Strangelove
A Touch of Zen and/or Dragon Inn (though July seems more likely)
Chimes at Midnight
Early Summer

At the very least I do hope we have at least one upgrade this month.

I agree. One upgrade in six months is pretty problematic.

I'm surprised we haven't seen an upgrade of Jeanne Dielman yet.

Someone suggested maybe they are holding off on upgrades as they may do a dual release with UK market?

I think they're preparing a boxed set of films from Liechtenstein.

Don't see what would be the point, there are tons of movies to release there from the back catalog of blu-rays, also some possible upgrades are already released on UK that is how we know there are good masters out there.

My only guess is they're looking at it from the bigger picture and perhaps they don't feel they have enough films ready to be upgraded on a monthly basis anymore, so they're spreading them out over the upcoming years.

Never happen but The Tarnish Angels would be a fun one to see on blu ray.

I had a dream the other night that I had Written on the Wind on Blu-ray. Maybe it's a premonition.

Is there anywhere I can see clips/trailer for a Brighter Summers Day with the new restoration? I've seen the screenshots, but I want to see it in motion .

I'm not sure what "best selling" would have to do with it, or if we can even reasonably determine what the sales are for any given title. But here's a sampling...

2009:
The Seventh Seal (6/16)
Kagemusha (8/18)

2010:
The Leopard (6/29)
The Red Shoes (7/20)
Black Narcissus (7/20)

2011:
Beauty and the Beast (7/19)
High and Low (7/26)
The Killing (8/16)

2012:
The Gold Rush (6/12)
The Samurai Trilogy (6/26)
The 39 Steps (6/26)

2013:
Wild Strawberries (6/11)

2014:
Picnic at Hanging Rock (6/17)
A Hard Day's Night (6/24)
The Essential Jacques Demy (7/22)

2015:
Five Easy Pieces (individual release) (6/30)
The Killers (7/7)

The Senegalese film Black Girl (1966) will be shown at the Brooklyn Academy of Music from May 18-24, sourced from a new World Cinema Project-funded 4K restoration provided by Janus Films.

Quote:
Black Girl (aka La Noire de..)

Directed by Ousmane Sembčne

“An astonishing movie.”
—Martin Scorsese

“For all the simplicity of the materials and the fablelike aspects of the story, a complex and passionate intelligence is shaping the meaning in every scene.”
—Jonathan Rosenbaum, Chicago Reader

Father of African cinema Ousmane Sembčne’s feature debut is one of the most important films ever made about race. Senegalese housemaid Diouana (Diop) is brought to France by the white family she works for, finding herself isolated in an unfamiliar country and trapped in a life of domestic servitude, a situation that the dignified Diouana refuses to accept. Both a landmark of world cinema and a devastating indictment of colonialism’s tragic legacy, Black Girl is the first African film to receive international acclaim; Martin Scorsese called it: “an astonishing movie—so ferocious, so haunting, and so unlike anything we’d ever seen.” Sembčne’s luminous black and white images have a direct expressive power, and they gleam anew in this restoration.

Screens with Borom Sarret (1963), Sembčne’s first film is a neorealist look at the hardscrabble life of a wagon driver who encounters a cross-section of Dakar’s inhabitants as he makes his rounds through the streets of the city.

New 4k restorations restored from the original camera and sound negatives. A Janus Films release
.

Ah! Also Michel Gondry has done some good videos too!

It seems clear Bjork is deserving of a stand alone music video release haha!

I guess we can expect Black Girl in Vol. 2 along with (at least) Law of the Order and Revenge.
