Everyone seems to believe Lambs will be out in February since it was released in theaters on Valentine's Day.

Don't raise your expectations too high, I think it's one of those movies like The Goonies where if you saw it at the right age you were likely blown away by it, and that's the source of many peoples' reverence. Not saying it's a bad movie or anything, just...it's not like an Ozu or a Bergman or something

(I personally can't stand that dance scene or the ending)

Hmm. I loved the Goonies when I was little and still do just the same.

I am actually very surprised that this is getting a release though.

I do not understand the reasoning for another release of The Breakfast Club. It is a good movie but there are so many films that need a first time release. Count me in for Young Mr Lincoln and the Ken Loach film.

Given that it's more mainstream, it stands to reason that it'll sell more copies, thus providing Criterion with more money to license and require titles that are more typical of their collection. There's already quite a few people in the regular thread who don't seem to be Criterion regulars who are interested in getting it. Also, the 50 mins of deleted scenes are something that fans of the movie seem to really want, so it's not like it's a completely pointless release in that regard either.

Original audio mix finally.
Plus it will sell, so they get more cash in for the smaller releases.
It's a shame but not unexpected that they didn't get the extended scenes/cuts.

I agree, but like Mifune said, its got its commercial reasons.

I like the month for Young Mr. Lincoln alone. I'm hopeful I will like the Pabst films too.

The new Ken Loach I have very little interest in. His recent films range from terrible (Looking for Eric) to passible (Jimmy's Hall). And given the subject matter I don't see how the hell I would care for it.

From Criterion's own listing:

• 50 minutes of never-before-seen deleted and extended scenes

It'll take the never before seen cut where Robert Downey Jr. is cast as Ducky and gets Molly Ringwald at the end for me to buy an upcoming Sixteen Candles release.

Do the Criterion Flash Sales usually work on preorders?

I, Daniel Blake was my favourite film last year, but I had no expectation for a Criterion release, hence pre-ordered the French blu-ray as it came out early. A must double dip, what a bummer on my pocket!

Only by mistake which has a 0.01% chance of happening. It's always strictly on in stock titles.

Bummed to see another Breakfast Club release. I don't think I've watched the last one yet, b/c I only picked it up during a recent sale.

Maybe I'll stop buying older Criterion disks and just grab the newer releases.

I'm not big on supplements and 50 minutes of deleted footage does nothing for me. IMO these scenes were not in the film because they did not work. I am happy for those are excited and there are plenty of other discs I could purchase. But it seems like a pointless release.
Not trying to be argumentative, but you contradict yourself here. You understand, but think it's pointless?

Part of being a sustainable business model that provides home access to so many classic and rare films means you have to have something in your library that John Q Public, movie watcher, might purchase. Without this there is no By Brakhage, etc. you literally can't have one without the other.

And it's definitely not worth getting riled up about (not saying you are). Just don't buy it if it's not your thing.

John Hughes and Molly Ringwald are in the Criterion Collection and there's more to come! Deal with it.

While it's not a title I'd buy, if The Breakfast Club will help them release other, less popular films, I'm all for it. They only release titles like that once in a while anyways.

Just a few off the top of my head that could sell well IMO. I don't have a problem with them releasing "The Breakfast Club". But there are thousands of films that could use a BD release or upgrade from a previous release more than "The Breakfast Club".
