The 76 one is going for high prices on Amazon. Maybe both?

I prefer the ‘37 version, though I haven’t seen the “original” ‘32 one.

I hope tama is right. I'd rather have a world cinema classic on the format for the first time than a re-release of widely available stuff.

The 3 clouds could also represent that it's part of a trilogy.

No flash sale today!? UGH

I hope they're just moving it to March this year and not cancelling it altogether. If they're not planning on having a flash sale, then I'll be spending A LOT of $$$$ at B&N in July.

Well, the good news is that I can spend the next week watching Criterion films on my DVR, fall in love with them, then add them to my order, and burn an even bigger hole in my pocket.

I've got Blow-Out, Here Comes Mr. Jordan, Frances Ha, Picnic at Hanging Rock, Personal Shopper, Blonde Venus, Morocco, The Kid Brother, I Married a Witch, Limelight, Cat People, Sullivan's Travels, Othello, and 45 Years.

What could possibly go wrong??

A Star is Born does seem like a reasonable guess for the latest drawing. Which version though? The 1937 film is already represented by a respectable Kino blu taken from Selznick's personal nitrate print, but that could be superseded if the three-strip negative (held by Warner Bros) were to be used. The 1954 version? The Warner blu is already pretty good. Personally, I have always been skeptical about the Arick rumors, but even if the lost footage is recovered, would Warners want to license the film then? The 1976 version? Doesn't exactly strike me as Criterion material, but maybe the Criterion folks see something in it that eludes me. Perhaps the latest film is going straight to a Criterion release? Maybe a box set of all four? Or perhaps A Star is Born isn't being referenced at all? Actually, my first thought after looking at the drawing was Jesus Christ Superstar, but again I don't think that film would be Criterion material.

If your thought process is like mine
1. I'm just previewing the film.
2. This film is really good. I'll put it on my wish list.
3. I definitely need this, but I can wait for the sale.
4. I need this film - like yesterday!

Good luck.

What will be the next Kubrick Criterion?

I think it’ll be Lolita personally.

You know, if Warner Archive hadn't just released it, Brewster McCloud would be an almost obvious choice for that clue.

I'll also guess Lolita. A Clockwork Orange would also be a welcome addition to the collection.
