Hmm. November is normally the really good month for releases, and this is one of weaker months in a long time.

Oh well. At least Godzilla is coming in October.

Also surprised at no Bamboozled as that was one of the hints for the year.

Not sure if anyone has said this yet, but with Cold War being released does this mean criterion and amazon are working together? It was distributed in the US by them and is listed on prime as an “amazon original”

I’m pretty sure it ran with an amazon studios logo theatrically when I saw it too

All About Eve is an odd choice for the CC treatment. I have the Fox digibook and it's an excellent release. Unless there are notable improvements in the PQ department (which I doubt), I think I'll keep my current release. Intrigued by Now, Voyager and The Daytrippers. Gonna see Betty Blue on the Criterion Channel and I'm excited for Cold War.

All About Eve is one of the greatest films of all-time. A worthy addition to the Collection, despite a solid Fox release.

Excellent month for Criterion. They announced three titles I plan on eventually getting.

It's funny, many of us are hoping Criterion would release Roma, a 2018 B&W film from tech giant Netflix, but surprises everyone by announcing Cold War, a 2018 B&W film distributed by tech giant Amazon.

Cold War was a much better film than Roma but I'm honestly most excited for The Daytrippers, I've been wanting that forever.

Two or three titles of interest come sale time, but nothing compelling for me in today's announcement.

Or you could just get the current disc for $13 now and not spend $20 or more on the Criterion. If the "C' is worth $7....

Many filmmakers with Amazon titles that Criterion clearly appreciates - Mike Leigh, Whit Stillman, Jim Jarmusch, Spike Lee, Todd Haynes etc.

I still haven't watched the copy of Betty I picked up a few years back from the UK. Nice packaging it came in, but I don't recall it having much, if anything in the way of extras.
I did finally crack it open and checked the PQ on it, which looked excellent. I'd love to have those extras, but given how non-compelled I've been to watch the copy I've long owned, I can't see it being a high priority.

Same with Eve. Great movie, but the digi-book is already a great package all around.

I may be tempted by Now, Voyager (great cove art!). Fortunately beyond that- nothing.

If there still is a November sale this year, I'll be getting off very light.

Possibly in for Cold War. I'm happy with my All About Eve digibook, so I won't double dip. But I hope it sells well if it helps Criterion continue the stellar work they do.

I bought the UK Bluray. If you’re region free it’s a terrific disc. Commentary, great A/V

Definitely waiting for Criterion discs of Secrets & Lies, High Hopes, and Career Girls which seem like they are definitely coming eventually

Wish Happy Go Lucky, All or Nothing, and Vera Drake would get bluray too ):

Thanks! I’ll look into! I was hoping it would get an American release. I know Janus owns Secrets & Lies, so I’m might also wait a bit to see if they do a dual release month of Mike Leigh films!
