It’s all in fun. Message boards are always a lot like the last line in CHINATOWN.
![]() Anyway, now that the Criterion site is charging me full tax on all purchases, the Flash Sale doesn’t hold the same allure for me that it once did. True, you can still accumulate points, which is an incentive, but I’ve recently picked up some titles from (as yet) non-tax places like Bull Moose and eBay and even with tax during a Target sale which still priced out a little lower than Criterion themselves. Though I divide my year living in Los Angeles, Chicago and Europe, items always ship to my home in Chicago which is currently at a 10% tax rate. However, some retailers like Deep Discount omit certain added taxes and only charge 6%. Criterion though charges the full 10%. ![]() |

With the Flash sale coming up (likely October 15th, as the last three Fall sales have been on the third Tuesday of October), I thought it would be helpful to list the upcoming Criterion films showing on Turner Classic Movies, and other channels that some people might have. Maybe a few movies people are considering buying as blind buys might pop up, giving them a chance to see it first.
All showings are listed as Central Time. TCM Godzilla (1954) Friday, October 4th, 7pm Godzilla Raids Again (1955) Friday, October 4th, 10:15 pm Mothra vs. Godzilla (1964) Friday, October 4th, 11:45 pm The 39 Steps (1935) Saturday, October 5th, 1:15 pm Sullivan's Travels (1941) Sunday, October 6th, 10:45 am In The Mood For Love (2000) Monday, October 7th, 3:00 am Henry V (1944) Monday, October 7th, 9:45 am Hamlet (1948) Monday, October 7th 12:15 pm Throne of Blood (1957) Monday, October 7th 5:00 pm Son of Godzilla (1967) Saturday, October 12th 12:00 am Night and the City (1950) Sunday October 13th 8:45 pm L'eclisse (1962) Monday, October 14th 1:00 am L'Avventura (1960) Monday, October 14th 3:15 am Fox Movie Channel The Leopard (1963) Monday, October 7th 6:45 am The Innocents (1961) Friday, October 11th 12:15 pm Showtime Dazed and Confused (1993) Saturday, October 5th 1:10 am The Game (1997) Saturday, October 5th 11:05 am The Virgin Suicides (1999) Monday, October 7th 4:55 am |

Is anyone able to watch Arsenic and Old Lace on The Criterion channel? I keep getting a "no content" message.
---Edited to say that I emailed Criterion and they fixed it. Very happy I can watch it tonight! Last edited by thebalconyfool; 10-04-2019 at 03:32 PM. |

I check out their prices enough to know the price is high most of the time but I have also been tracking their sale seasons. In 2019, there was a sale in March and in September (6 months gap). Last year, the September sale seem to have lasted longer but this year was short. So the sale will be back on; but you have to check frequently. You can at least put $ away until the sale... |

4K discs are costly to print but also other costs such as HDR mastering can add up. With other labels slowly getting in (Kino, Snyapse, Discotek, and Second Sight) I give it time before Criterion joins.

Am I happy about losing the pride of freedom of ownership? Not in the least. I despise streaming, even though I use it myself. But that's the world we live in. |

This was posted in Criterion’s Instagram:
![]() https://www.instagram.com/p/B3LdeGrA...=12ixn5x71k6wz Not sure if it’s a possible hint at a future release or anything, but my first thought was True Romance, but I am not 100% confident in that haha. |
