With the B&N 50% event underway I also noticed that concurrently, all Cohen titles are also 50% off (not sure for how long). Never seen a Cohen release in a store, so one would need to order online. Some great titles on offer that may be of interest to the Criterion crowd.

Got Before Trilogy and Polyester. I’m proud how much restraint I showed...
Was going to get the Godzilla set but it had a security device with the wire so of course it had damage to to all 4 sides... and it was behind the cash register so not sure why they needed the device on it... I Understand but still hate that they do this. Guess I’ll order online |

Like Toxoplasmic, I did the same thing last night, but instead of that film I unwrapped my recent flash sale purchase of Local Hero, popped it in, and thoroughly enjoyed it! It's not an appropriate movie for Halloween, but in some ways I find the big oil industry to be horrifying in a way too. I really enjoyed Burt Lancaster's performance and the lovely emphasis on Astronomy and the constellations. Really liked this one, and it was a blind-buy purchase no less! Score!

Does Criterion still do the awesome replacement program they offered for the digipack cases, when they offered standard Criterion blu-ray cases as alternatives for collectors for releases like Chungking Express and Last Year at Marienbad to make collections more uniform?
Wondering if they would do it for some of the giant cases, such as Y Tu Mama Tambien, Tree of Life, or Persona. |

They already have some
The last 2-3 sales they've paid attention to B&N, BUT for the <34.99 on sale titles they've added B&N shipping charges since B&N customers apparently at too stupid to figure out how to avoid those by ordering $35, or membership, or god forbid picking up at a store. |

Picked these up after work today. I've needed to upgrade my DVD of Bicycle Thieves for many moons now.

Yeesh. So I ordered The Lure straight from the source about a month ago, and it arrived with a broken case. Then I contacted them about it and it took a few weeks, but I finally got the replacement today which...was smashed even worse than the first order.
So now I've contacted them again. And here i thought ordering directly from Criterion would ensure things would arrive in pristine condition. |
