I could watch it countless times.

And if you don't think it's an assault on the senses, clearly, the Acheron's first attack scene or rounding the Cape, are all out assaults on the senses. Moreso than Transformers, I'd say. Cloverfield is close. Hulk is, too.

But these are all opinions, really, there's no one awesome disk that everyone will enjoy.

I do have to see about Star Trek, though...

Strongly disagree about moreso than Transformers, Cloverfield and Hulk. All 3 of those are clearly more of an assault on the senses at their best moments compared to M and C (not even close IMO). Not trying to take anything away from M and C as it is a fantastic track, but what it excels at is a more realistic type sound design while the other 3 movies in question can break that rule so to speak since they are so unrealistic. Because of this they can really pump up the sound and it creates a much bigger assault on the senses, but like you said it is all opinion and I respect yours

Master is certainly impressive, but it takes more of a seasoned audio nut to really appreciate that type of audio track compared to one that is an all out assault on the senses.
The battle sequences in Master and Commander are some of the most aggressive sounding sequences currently available in digital sound on home video. It has one of the most unique and labor intensive soundtracks ever created for a film. It took over a year and from what I understand, practically every sound effect was created specifically for the film. Not only that, but just based on pure dynamics, the film blows away practically every track you mentioned. The only one that comes close is Incredible Hulk. When a cannon fires in M&C, you practically jump out of your seat at how powerful it is. I can't say that about the others you mentioned.

As for another one to mention for being among the best - Wanted. Finally watched this last night and wow, incredible sound design. Very unique and colorful sound, certainly one of the top ten best tracks on BD.

Ya, I just watched Fight Club and that's definitely in here now. It's got great ambient sound and it's definitely loud when it needs to be.

Like I said, for me it is far from the most impressive even if it is tech one of the best. I certainly dont look to M and C when putting on a demo for people.

Wanted was a bit overated IMO as well.

These comments are absurd.

The opening ship attack sequence is incredible. It simply leaves people stunned.

I like M & C's audio track. I think one of the main reasons it's so good is because not one of the audio bits was stock. They went and recreated all the different sounds using history to figure out what each cannon, gun,etc.etc. would sound like and replicated it.

I'm also a fan of Fight Club. This is a very strong audio track and easily in my opinion one of the best so far.

For a not BOMBASTIC track, I think The Orphanage is fantastic. The detail and timing of certain sounds makes the audio become another character.

You are so right, the whole track is incredible.

When you were on the island, you heard all the nature sounds. When you were on the sea, you could hear every footfall and creak, during battle you could hear every piece of wood that splintered. Let's not even talk about the storm on the sea, you felt you were in the middle of it.

This is the demo go to track.

I watched Up last nite and thought the sound was incredible. Def 5/5. That being said, it does not have that "it" moment like U-571, Cloverfield, etc, but I think it is consistently amazing.

Fight Club certainly deserves an honorable mention. I was SHOCKED when the opening credits rolled. WOW WOW WOW!! Love it!

I still haven't watched M&C on my system. I loathed the movie when I walked out of it at the movie theater. =/

I see a lot of people mentioning movies in this thread that absolutely don't belong...this is not one them. Ralph Potts, who pretty much never gives perfect scores, especially for catalog titles, gave the audio a 100/100 over at AVS.

Man on Fire
Hellboy II
The Incredible Hulk
The Departed
Friday the 13th (2009)
Independence Day
Rambo
Drag Me To Hell

These are the ones the come to my mind immediately. If I took the time to go through my collection I'm sure I could add more to the list but these BD's are front and center (All great movies too!)
