Even though I already own the Panasonic UB900, I just might get this also. I wander how much the X1000 will cost?

Unknown at the moment.

Yesterday Ray posted this:

I'll get confirmation tomorrow on the BD players at my Sony meeting and post my findings.

I'd like to think that the 800X could get a DV firmware upgrade later, given that everything 2017 Sony 4K/UHD will support DV.

Love Sony BD players. Will wait and see if this has an HDR off option though, which I really like about the Oppo.

According to the spec sheet the new Sony UBP-X800 will play both DVD-Audio discs and Super Audio CD’s. I would be really interested in this Sony UBP-X800 since it appears to be the second brand on the market that will play those niche audiophile optical discs.

It is a bad ideal to remove all analog audio outputs. Some consumers need 2 channel stereo RCA jacks for the multi-room zone 2 feature on some A/V receivers.

It sez "HDR→SDR converter" in the specs, FWIW.

For LOTR,

@ 59:25 JP Torres from the Sony Audio Team getting into supported formats a little bit. When you say running car do you mean powered on or moving at a rate of speed

no optical outputs as well. the back is very very poor compared to something like the oppo 203 or UB900.

I can't believe that Sony will not make this player Dolby Vision capable at a later date. All of their 2017 TV line up will be able to display DV (even the ZD9 series through a firmware update).

If it turns out not to include DV in any way, then it is an even dumber decision than not including a 4K UHD HDR player in the PS4 Pro

I think the UHP-H1 launched at $349, which means this probably debuts min. of $399?

Not bad.

It should be accurate, will have HDR to SDR conversion and good streaming support.
