Not the same player, so it can't be related. But whenever I have hit eject on my Oppo 203 to turn it on, the tray opens but there is no info to the tv, just a gray fuzzy screen. Have to turn off and then back on to get tv handshake (guess that is the most appropriate term.)

I occasionally have an issue with my X800 not playing 4K discs. I put one in and it either does nothing (I eject the disc, put it back in and it plays) or it starts playing and the screen goes black and stays that way (have to shut down the player and boot it up again).

I couldn't play any of 10 or so test discs today, so I gave Sony a call. They pretty quickly jumped right to sending me a replacement. Guys was very nice. Not gonna complain about that. Only question now is do I watch Ghost in the Shell on BD tonight or wait for the forkays... hmmm...

Purchased an X800, hooked it up today. 1 hdmi going to my tv(70x850b), 2 hdmi going to my reciever (pioneer elite sc-25). Having a big issue with audio. I lose hdmi handshake and audio drops out for 8-10 seconds. Then is back for 4-5 seconds. This goes on and on. Does it with the netflix app, and with blu-rays. Haven't tried a UHD disc yet. Any ideas? I have the audio mix set to off, as my receiver displays DTS MASTER HD when the audio is on. I am 99% planning on returning it, especially after reading some of the issues with not playing UHD discs.

Glad Sony have offered to send you a replacement that quickly, man. Good on them, and good for you. Personally, wait to watch the 4K. In my personal opinion, Ghost in the Shell ain't bad if you enjoy the original anime movie. They certainly took some liberties in order to make the story a bit more fleshed out and to also add some sensibilities a wider audience might be able to cling to, but it ain't bad. That said, it's not great, either. It does certain things really well and other things not so well, but enjoyed my time with it overall. |

Could it be my older hdmi cable? I'm sure it's not 2.0. It's probably 8-10 years old. |

Ok so I thought this was my kong disc, but apparently something is wrong with my player. I watched Passengers this week with no problem, and listened to a super audio cd. Now any movie I put in the main audio track will not play. EVEN PASSENGERS!?!?! This makes zero sense. If I switch to another language it works fine, and menu audio works fine. It's literally just the english tracks that are failing....
EDIT: Reverted to factory settings seems to have brought it back slightly. Now I have the backgropund noise but no center channel or dialog... I am already sick of this format and its problems. EDIT2: Reverting it to factory settings, doing my receivers initial setup, and changing hdmi ports to a diff and back seems to have made it work. This is not how I enivisioned my "upgrade" from 1080p to go..... Last edited by SleeperAgent; 07-28-2017 at 01:21 PM. |

Not me. One issue I found when I upgraded to a Roku Ultra and got faster internet (previous modem did not have 5ghz), both radios had the same name and it could only see one. Since going in and renaming both radios to make it obvious which one is 5g and which one is 2g, I never have that problem with any devices. All I use with the X800 to stream is the 5ghz radio.

My three X800 have no problem on the 5ghz band and have extremely a extremely fast connection. Using the YouTube stats for nerds my connection speed is over 90000Kbps.

Thanks everyone for their replies on the wi-fi issue I'm having. My two wi-fi bands have different names and no other devices have issues with connecting. I may have a defective unit and will try to contact Sony support about it.

I had to contact customer service again this morning about my X800. It looks like my player is officially dead this time. When I would turn my player on I would only get the Sony logo then would turn off. Customer service did some trouble shooting but couldn't get anything to work. At least I'll get a new replacement. Hopefully, the new one works better than this one.
Previous issues were: Player was losing usernames and passwords for apps. It was also freezing up. Current issue: Player would only load the Sony screen and turn off. |
