I've always favored Sony blu ray players. Don't know if this is the right thread for this question, but when I've messed with the settings of blu ray players from Sony especially the audio setting, I've turned bd audio mix setting off and when I've played a movie like The Dark Knight and I'm moving through the movie menu it doesn't make that hiss sound when you select something, is that normal after messing with audio mix setting?

Not sure if it's been mentioned on this thread but since there are so many positive reviews for the Sony X800, should I get extra coverage? (ie. Geek Squad) I don't know much about players. I'm definitely getting coverage for a 4K TV.

You don't know what problems you could encounter after the Manufacture's Warranty runs out so it is best to be safe than sorry. I ordered my Sony player through Amazon.com & got a 4 year warranty for a little over $10.00 or $11.00 but after reading the fine print it is really only a 3 year Warranty since the first year runs concurrently with the Manufacture's Warranty which shouldn't be right since it screws you out of a year of warranty.

HDR: Auto, Output Resolution: Custom, Custom Resolution: UHD Auto, Color Space: 4:2:2, Color Depth: Auto, 3D Output: Auto, DVD 24p Conversion: On, in a dual HDMI configuration. Is it possible I'm setting something else wrong? I wouldn't expect player settings to introduce glitching, like lockups, and disc errors to a player. Weren't a lot of the early 203 players plagued with issues? Is it possible I have one, that can't be corrected with a firmware update? My confidence isn't high since it's a refurb model, and they're tested out before being sold. |

does geek squad replace the unit if defective under their warranty? or make you wait while they send it out for repair to manufacturer? i know what they do with tv claims under geek squad. not sure about blu players.

Always a good idea considering it's cheap enough at Best Buy for a low price-point like this. if anything happens, they will work with you. If it can't be fixed, you'll end up with a gift card with the value of the player on it. It's expensive for a TV but for a $150 player it's only like $25. Well worth the peace of mind. It's still an electronic device.

Yeah, but the markup is fine when the player was $300 and the modded player is $450. Now that the player is $150 a $300 markup for the mod is a bit preposterous imo.
