I had the same problem last night but I got it worked out. Had to turn a setting on/off, but I can't remember which one. I can help when I get off work tonight, if no one else has.

Yes all Blu-ray players the mixing in secondary audio needs to be turned off, and also its ideal to bitstream the audio instead of letting a Blu-ray player internally decode the audio to PCM, because both Dolby Atmos and DTS X require bitstreaming. Also with bitstreaming on, the A/V receiver will display the exact audio codec its receiving on the front display and/or onscreen menu display.

Sony has officially lowered the list price on their website to $149.99 for the Sony UBP-X800. Several retail stores and mail order companies are selling this player for $149.99 with free shipping. This is an incredible deal. This 2017 player list price was $299.99, and now its half the price. This player is the cheapest 4K Ultra HD Blu-ray player on the market that plays SACD’s and DVD-Audio discs. Only the OPPO UDP-203 which is priced locked at $549 is a better player, and the OPPO UDP-203 does not offer any streaming (Sony offers true 4K Ultra HD streaming). This player connects to any display with a HDMI input, one does not need to own a 4K Ultra HD display to use this player.
Here is the link to the Sound and Vision magazine review on the Sony UBP-X800 (excellent review). https://www.soundandvision.com/conte...-player-review Last edited by HDTV1080P; 11-09-2017 at 07:14 PM. |

And yet the region-modded price of the player on sites like 220electronics and bombayelectronics is still $450! Lol, for that price you might as well spend a bit more and get the Oppo and mod it yourself with the plug-in mod later if you need it region-free. Or buy the x800 at retail price and buy a separate region-modded player.
If only this player converted PAL/50Hz to 60Hz (and had Dolby Vision) it would be perfect. For $150 it's still seems to be an amazing player. Last edited by mar3o; 11-09-2017 at 07:20 PM. |

I have the Oppo 203, and there is no way in hell that I would or even attempt to manually modify a $550.00 blu-ray player, for the sake of playing Region B & C locked blu-ray disc because, it's not that important... If something goes technically wrong with the blu-ray player due to cause of its modification, (which shouldn't have done in the first place), Oppo WILL NOT honor their manufacture warranty, and it will be voided. The owner will be fully responsible for any repairs,

I agree why spend that on a Sony even if region-modded when you can get an Oppo. $150 for the Sony now is a great price, it's worth that easily! Quote:

Incredibly stupid example...if you said doing an engine swap to give it more horsepower, then that would be make more sense. And yes, I would happily mod my Oppo to make it region free.

It may be stupid to you because, it make sense! If it's not broke, don't fix it, leave it alone. If you want a region free blu-ray player, buy a region free blu-ray player. Why f**k up a $550.00 component, and jeopardize the original manufacturer's warranty - now that's stupid!

The Sony player would make an excellent bedroom BR 4K player for late night shows. @ that price you can put one in each bedroom.
And the Oppo 205 in the main listening/viewing living room. ...To go with your Sony 4K OLED Dolby Vision TV. |

Anecdotal evidence to share.
Just picked up an Oppo 203 a few weeks ago, and it's stuttered or glitched three times now. It wouldn't start up Homecoming on a first attempt, locked up during a viewing of Dracula, and stuttered, and then locked up while watching an episode of WestWorld. I had the Sony since around release date, and had absolutely zero issues with any discs. YMMV, but the X800 has been worth every penny. |

I mean... open it and do it yourself if you think you know what you're doing. If you doubt it, don't. Seems simple enough.
I used to build gaming PCs, which I thought was very simple as they're more plug and play than you might think, but some can never do it without screwing something up. My dad could take any car apart and put it back together again until about 15 years ago, and I can't even change a tire. Depends on the person. |

2. Only use certified HDMI cables. If you do that with the Oppo 203 you should be home free and trouble free. |

I doubt it, if only three discs behaved the way he described and that the other discs played without hiccups. It's not the player's settings, it's the discs or one or two HDMI cables...I think.
