Blu-ray Archduke

Guys, I'm really fresh to this player. But for Video Options I set it to Custom2 and adjusted the color/contrast/brightness to my liking.
Any tips on that? Also there are 2 options that are greyed out (Cinema and another I forgot about). Why is that? |

You shouldn't have to touch those settings, any of them. Stick it on Direct for the purest picture.

I noticed that if I set 24p for network content to Auto on the Sony X800, Vudu was skipping frames during streaming an episodes of Little House on the Prairie. This happened 15 times during a whole episode. Disabling 24p for network content in the player's settings stopped the skipping frames during Vudu streaming. I don't have this issue with the Netflix app with 24p for network content on Auto. My TV supports 24 Hz. I didn't specifically buy this player for streaming anyways as I have another device for that purpose.

Perhaps the VUDU app needs a firmware update or maybe the streaming section of the player needs a firmware update. I know people that have a top of the line Roku Ultra that they paid $130 for ($99.99 is the latest 2017 price), and they cannot get the 4K Netflix app to display 4K movie titles do to a 4K Netflix app glitch. But the 4K VUDU app plays 4K movies fine. I know this is not the problem you described, but my point is all streaming devices on the market have bugs that need to be correctly with a firmware update.

If they say that sometimes you can get around it by ticking the box "contain gift" then they will put an extra box. I am still quite furious with them because they sent me something in the original box which was utterly obvious not suitable for shipping! Item arrived damaged and when I left feedback they censored my comment and did not allow me to post a truthful comment about what they did. Additionally their packaging sucks most of the time with blurays on occasions exposed to fall out of their packaging. I live in Australia and already have a zone B of this I am just about to buy another but zone A from Amazon because postage is a lot cheaper for me. But check BH photo. Price at the moment is the same $149 and They tend to pack light years better than amazon |

Blu-ray Samurai

So I'm planning to pick this up before Christmas. I have a 4K HDTV and I have my current sony blu-ray player hooked up through a Samsung home theatre system (it's not a 4K system).
Will I need to change any settings once I get this? Because it will also be hooked up to Samsung home theatre system (HDMI), which is then connected to the 4K TV. I mean, will this cause any picture problems you think? |

It's just HDMI 1.4 so your current HDMI cable should work. Get a new Certified Premium HDMI cable for the video signal. 18 gbs or higher. Monoprice can be bought from their website or Amazon. Under $10 AND Premium Certified. Wal-mart might have a Premium Certified cable for sale in their store if you have one local. Premium Certified cables have a tag and logo. |

As for HDMI cables, what about Amazon Basic? They have an HDMI cable 2-pack (certified for 3D, 4K and Ethernet) for $7.96 |

Someone here talked about downloading apps for this player which I've owned for over 6 months. My EU version of it bought in Spain (where I live) states Amazon Video out in the box but the app is not on player, and Amazon Video is available in Spain. I'm an Amazon Prime member and I've been watching Amazon Video on my Samsung 4K HDR set which I got around 5 months ago, but I really dislike ARC, and no matter how I configure the Samsung T.V., all I get from Amazon Video is plain old Dolby Digital while the English tracks are on Dolby Digital Plus. The same happens with HBO, the Samsung T.V. set has the HBO app and I was really dissapointed when I suscribed a couple of months ago and all I got from the English tracks was Dolby Digital but they are also Dolby Digital +, the Samsung T.V. shows audio is on Dolby Digital + with both Amazon Video and HBO. No matter how I set the T.V. set, setting output to "Bitstream" should output Dolby Digital +, and of course my Pioneer Elite series A/V receiver from 2012 decodes Dolby Digital. Is this common or am I doing something wrong?
Is there a way to download more apps for the X-800? Changing the subject, I really don't see the point of the video preset "Auto", I've tried it and changed between this and Direct and I don't see a difference. Maybe it's intended to work when matched with a Sony T.V.set. |

Audio CoDecs (Coder/Decoder) seem to be advancing more rapidly than ever before. This necessitates more frequent upgrades to newer receivers. This problem is made worse when mixing products from different manufacturers. Mixing tends to get you into finger-pointing territory. Each manufacturer will blame the other for the problem which leaves you stuck in the middle. That's why I went all Sony. Plus I have always had good service from Sony products. I hope you can resolve your audio issues by modifying your settings, input, etc. You might try writing down all the settings for each component and then resetting them all back to Factory defaults. Then change each setting one at a time until you observe the problem. It's time-consuming, but cheaper than an upgrade. |
