Default Buda folder.

I know at this point this may be a silly question, even 'though I've been following this thread from the very beginning it may have been discussed earlier, why every time one inserts an USB flash drive or a HDD on the X-800 it creates a folder with the name "buda"?
If I try to open it with the player it says there is not playable content, does this buda folder serves any purpose for the player?
Thanks in advance for your replies.

It's for BD-live content, to store files.

I've searched the thread, but couldn't find anything similar to my question. I was wondering if someone one on here might have an idea what's going on.

Upon watching the 4K disc of Order of the Phoenix I’ve noticed on a couple of occasions the HDR or brightness dimming on its own, as well as the display turning off when I restart the disc. Any ideas what this could be? I'd hate to have it replaced. I've had it calibrated. I'm thinking it might be the discs or maybe the HDMI cable, but I can't be sure.

It's the same model but the 824EGK is for the German market.

Thank you for your reply, I didn't know what that folder is for,now I do. I have opened the buda folder on several of my HDDs and USB flash drives with my laptop and there's nothing inside. I became to think that this folder may be for storing bookmarks even for video files like mkv, but it's not.

Does this happen with any other UHD discs?

Wonder if they will do the dolby vision update? Seems a shame my x800 player is only a few months old and already obsolete out dated.

Sorry, this question is posted every other page, and the answer is still no.
It was never promised by Sony engineering, just some over-speculative marketing types that created a living, breathing myth. And the 1000-ES player won't get it either.

Now that this unit has been out a while and received updates, what streaming apps does it support? Ideally in 4k UHD? Particularly interested in 4k UHD YouTube, 4k UHD Google Play and anything else the x900e tv doesn't support.

Also, no stuttering and compatibility issues?

Thanks

Yes, its happened on 3 UHD'S ( all HP films). I'm not sure if it's my display or player or cable.

true ("officially") :: however, :: "unofficially" several "Sony reps" (working for Sony) worldwide, indicated support for Dolby Vision ("when the displays were to receive updates") about a year ago :: however, later in October, Sony "officially" confirmed this intent, but concluded that it was not possible, 'mostly rendering the point mute'

note :: i think it 'unfair' and 'inaccurate' to represent this 'unofficial intent' as myth and not recognizing the facts

note :: neither of these players will ever get Dolby Vision (although just what is possible with the 'Sony specific low-latency Dolby Vision profile' - might - just give pause)

personally, i find the whole of Sony and Dolby Vision; 'confusing' regardless of any 'official or unofficial' information (this for years to come)

It is a little messy, confusing, this Dolby affair. ...And not just for one person.
And I'm not talking just Dolby Vision latency and firmware updates and Dolby Atmos exclusivity to 4K. ...The full 4K Dolby enchilada.

It's a beautiful blue planet we live on. The X800 does what it supposed to do; rendering beautiful HDR images from 4K discs and 4K streaming. The fact that it also plays all the other hi res audio discs and audio philes is a bonus.

With HDMI if a cable is compliant with all relevant 4K specification requirements, use that one. It will be fine.

Cable construction is another matter entirely. That said, I prefer Blue Jean Cables for their top-end and budget HDMI cables. All well made.

Stay away from monster cable if you don't want to get ripped-off.

Hello

I received the cable blue jeans cable from Amazon today, thank you Iain

the Blue Jeans cape is great and the price even better

Blue Jeans cable is 28AWG

the Monster Black Platinum is 30AWG

Kordz do not know the AWG

when I can make a comparison between the three cables and I leave here my opinion

De PORTUGAL,
I just hope that the corny and limp couple my country are sending get the lowest score. God, how I dislike this couple! Spain used to make decent music in the 70's, the 80's and the 90's.

Sony BDP are terrible streamers.
I also had the Sony BDP-S790 and had similar freezing issues but I didn't even use it for streaming so that was not the problem for me. Disconnecting it from the network and/or turning off quick start did not help.

De PORTUGAL,

Glad you like the BJC Series FE cables. They're my default HDMI cable type.

FWIW, the BJC Series 1 cables are 23.5 gauge. I bought a 2 metre length of it a few years ago as a trial. It's thick, stiff and bulky but it connects my Roku Ultra, so it will allow it to do what it does best.
