What does "quoting" my post about providing the answer to the subtitle question have to do with pricing?

You funny guy boster, you the one first quoted me. Don't play games like you don't understand.
Leave it alone, get something better to do.

Is your X800 still under warranty?
If it is, call Sony.

You were giving advice to another member about the potential pricing. I was adding a counter point to pricing from Robert who is a Panny Dealer...I felt the member also deserved to know what a Panasonic dealer had to say about potential discounts.

As far as the topic of subtitles, I didn't refer to you or any of your posts. So you seem to be reading more into my two posts.

I wasn't "playing games"... but Yes, I assumed you were taking a swipe at me. In this case, I thought I'd give you the benefit of the doubt and not make that assumption.

This is the Sony X800 thread anyway, plus Robert is not the only audio/video dealer in the world who carries the Panasonic 820. I previously gave almost a dozen other links from various Panasonic 820 dealers, here in the USA and in Canada.

Robert said what he believes, I said what I believe, you said time will tell. I don't care, prices always come down on Black Friday and @ Christmas time. Technology flies fast, players come and go.
The X800 was $149, and now on clearance for $89.
The X700 added Dolby Vision and deducted DVD-Audio and considerable weight.
The list price for the 700 is less than the 800 was. But those list prices don't last forever. Panasonic is no different.

The only exception were the Oppo players, now costing twice on eBay because Oppo Digital exited production April 1st...announcement date.

Anyway if people can find the Sony X800 on clearance for only $89 it's a no-brainer deal.
Use it for now and see what Sony has later on. By then the Panasonic 820 won't be @ $499 or $449.

In the Cleveland area, I only saw them at two stores I tried at $149.00 which is still a good buy since other stores are still at $249.00 if you need this specific player.

I have no idea what to do, other than toggle on or off the setting every time I have an audio dropout.

I assume you have tried a different cable but it could be something as simple as that.

Even with no DV the x800 has great build quality and is well worth $89, it's a solid disc player. If you can find one at that price, grab it.

I've been having a weird issues with my player recently and wanted to see if anybody had any ideas for fixing it. On a lot of movies I've watched recently, especially in darker scenes it seems like the player is having some image retention. Like when a movie first starts if it has a logo, once the logo fades to a black screen you can still see the outline of the logo. Or at the end of the movie right when the credits roll on the outer parts of the credits you can still see outlines of what was just on the screen before the credits started. I've narrowed it down to the player because my x900e doesn't do anything similar on my Roku or on my PS4. Also it only seems to do it on regular Blu Rays. 4K discs play just fine. I've tried changing the upscaling settings. I've switched it from Auto 2 to Auto 1 to off and it does the same thing each time. Anybody run into this issue before or know of something I could try to fix it?

I had a similar issue a while back. While playing the disc press Options on the remote, then go to Video Settings and change it to Direct.

Hey guys, I just bought a region-free Sony BDP-S6500, and I wanted to ask what settings do you all use? I have a X-700, and for quality picture mode I have Direct selected, but I don't have that option for this one. Which one would you all recommend. Also, do you all just output as 1080P, or auto and have 4K upscale set to auto?

I know that this thread isn't for this player, but I didn't find one for this particular player, and I didn't want to create one just for this question.

For 4k scaling, it really depends on how good your TV is at it. If the TV is better at scaling then you want to output at 1080p. If the TV's scaling isn't that great then the player's might be better, and you should output at 4k. If you can't eyeball it then sites like Rtings rate upscaling in their reviews.

As for the other settings, just shoot for getting the raw disc image outputted to the television as best you can. If there's no "direct" mode there should be another that sounds similar, or you can use a custom mode with all the enhancements at zero.

Has Canada ceded British Columbia to the U.S.A.?
You make this too easy dude.

I love my X800 and have been fortunate to have had no issues.
I watched Justice League this afternoon and every time I watch a 4K movie, I'm blown away.

Anyone got the latest update for their x800 yet? Got mine the other day. Checking Sony's site it looks like a good update. That being said. My player is performing flawlessly.

I love my UBP-X800. It’s a great 4K player, the only knock is no DV. But with my Z9D, it makes movie nights very fun again!

My tv doesn't have DV either, so I'm not lamenting what the 800 doesn't have.
The X800 has been great with the UHD's, Blu-rays, SACD and dvd-a's and dvd's that I've played on it.
This is one of the better a/v purchases I've made.

Yes, 20 minutes ago, and now my player doesn't work because it won't recognize any of my discs.

EDIT

Fixed it by killing the power. I was about to lose my cool on a Sunday morning.

Advice please guys
I have connected an Dolby Atmos soundbar but when I press display on the x800 remote control while playing a movie it says Dolby True HD not atmos
But on the soundbar display button it says Dolby Atmos-Dolby TrueHD on the TV screen does this mean atmos or true hd audio

I read the last update has killed the atmos on the x800 so people are saying reset to factory settings but this doesn’t clear or go back to the original firmware

When I am using Apple 4K the display on the soundbar via TV screen says only Dolby Atmos do I know the Soundbar is working ok

On the sound settings, make sure the BD Audio Mix Setting is set to "Off".

I have an interesting sound issue that has to be due to the X800. When playing back the new Halloween II (1981) Blu-ray from Scream Factory, there is a split second audio dropout at 3:20. I have a PS3 connected to the same TV and the issue does not happen with that player. It also does not happen with my cheap Sony Blu-ray player in the other room. Process of elimination tells me that it has to be how the X800 is outputting the audio.

I have the player hooked up via HDMI to my LG OLED and there is an optical cord going from the LG to my Samsung soundbar. Can anyone provide any insight into what might be the optimal audio settings for that kind of configuration? Thanks!
