Any help would be most appreciated, the more info the better for me! Thanks!!
Since your TV doesn't have Dolby Vision, the 800 would be a good player. But if you have the money to be safe for the future, you might look at one of the other units that has Dolby Vision. Good Luck

The 800 has Dolby Vision now, in the new model. Old models are not updated though.

Just to be clear, the X800M2 has DV. It was announced at CES but not for sale anywhere yet.

I just don't want that user buying a new X800 thinking it will have DV. Your post seems to suggest that.

I was referring to the original x800, not the newest X800M2..

That's what I thought which I why I posted what I did.

The X800 is hardware limited and cannot be upgraded to DV. The X700 is up-gradable to X700. If you want a 800 architecture and DV, you need to wait for the M2. Should be soon (estimates were Spring 2019).

You are correct and my mistake, the Universal title which pixelated on the X800 was Huntsman: Winter War UHD; Gladiator UHD also pixelated, the US Paramount title, but it was on my LG, not the X800.

While I'm at it, The Godfather (most recent/restored Blu), also a Paramount title, froze when selecting a scene from the pop-up menu on the X800, post-FW update.

So, just a rash of general issues over the past few weeks after months of smooth operation, or something specific to Universal and other companies using the same mastering/manufacturing facilities, your guess is as good as mine.

For me it's usually Warner titles, Universal ones play fine. These players are just weird.

Funnily enough I have my first ever issue with this player last night with a Warner title, a small glitch during playback of the Goodfellas 4K UHD.

Something that may be of use:

I finally upgraded my Netflix account to 4k. I have an Epson 4ke shift projector, which is incapable of passing Netflix’s 4k/60hz signal. When you slelect 24hz for streaming content in the x800 menu, it renders Netflix at 4k/24hz with HDR!

The Nvidia shield used to do this, but the feature was removed with a firmware update, so not sure how permanent a solution it is, but works great for now!

Sony has output 24hz on Netflix and Amazon for many years now, it is very nice.

Any word on the 800M2 release date?

When connected to the kd-49xe9005 Blu-ray player ubp x800 or BDP-S6500 and increasing the resolution to 4K, the TV has no screen size adjustment. Because of this, the image is blurred,as if not in focus there is no sharpness and detail. When the TV signal 1080p everything is fine,as the screen size is set to the maximum resolution. When output to the TV screen Sony setup table in 4K clearly shows that the size of the screen is wrong, but the screen settings are not active. You need to write in support of Sony. If there are many complaints, they will correct the error

Most Sony 4K TVs lock out the aspect ratio control when receiving a 4K signal.

Ask Sony to make it possible to adjust the screen when the 4K signal. Either do on ubp x800 function super resolution,as on BDP-S6500. The BDP-S6500 gives a much clearer and more detailed image.

Too bad the M2 chassis looks super-cheap.

Was hoping for something in the lineage of the tank-like X800.

I'll probably wait for PS5 reveal and see what's going on with that.

What, the M2 chassis is different than the X800 chassis; I don't think so, they are identical chassis from Sony's own website.
Did I miss something.

The Mach 2 has exactly the same weight as the X800
WEIGHT > 3.8 kg (8lb 2 / 5oz) > 8 pounds and 7 ounces (8 lb. 7 oz)

Not one ounce of difference, zero. Same size same chassis.

That was then, now it's different. It's all super good...everything and all that spring jazz blossoming.
