Hopefully they fix whatever this issue is, and work on getting us Amazon HDR.

It'd end up being a dumpster fire for them if they didn't. Fox has a pretty large catalog and the fact that and there's already reports of people experiencing issues with Star Wars Ep IV, X-Men First Class, Hitman, Assassins Creed, one of the Die Hard movies, Miss Peregrin's, The Martian... and the list seems to keep growing.

Sony has about 7 of the top 15 selling blu-ray players on Amazon, and this is number 11. They will figure it out. Sony and Samsung have really been it with blu-ray player volume sales the last few years.

Yeah, exactly. I mean, we have a right to complain because I feel like this is kind of a dumb thing to have happened... like, you'd think they would have anticipated dealing with the encryption methods of all the major studios out there. Still, anyone who buys a player like this on day 1 and expects it to be flawless should just not be an early adopter. I'm semi-cool knowing they'll fix it because, well, they just will.

4K on NetFlix seems to not be working. It works perfectly fine on the KS8000. :/

Dunno why some people have problem with Netflix and others do not (this isn't the only device with this issue). Mine has worked fine on everything.

Yeah, this is weird. Amazon Video works fine. NetFlix making all kinds of silly excuses.

1. Internet Connection (300 Mpbs and Netflix getting 56)
2. AVR (video not connected to it)
3. Sony

Apps always do weird stuff in my experience. 20 years later and home internet still doesn't quite work right a lot of the time!

Hopefully your TV apps do 4k, which makes it a moot issue.

They do, but I have the TV setup through optical cables. Don't have a 4K AVR yet.

NetFlix engineers going to call me today, so hopefully they figure this mess out.

It was working fine for me on my x800 last night. My x800 is now my go to device for Netflix playback. Supplanting my Roku Ultra.

Hopefully they update the Amazon app soon to support HDR. Then I can start using the x800 for Amazon too.

Damn it. I had no problem playing Star Wars Episode 3 or A New Hope but It messed up on Empire Strikes Back and did some weird thing with the picture and the audio stopped. Damn Fox Titles they need to fix this issue.

Default Sony UBP-X800 4K UHD Blu-ray player :: Dolby Vision (confirmed - today)

Sony UBP-X800 4K UHD Blu-ray player :: Dolby Vision (confirmed - today)

(this information may not widely be known)

today (yesterday it was not so) :: Sony rep confirmed forthcoming support for Dolby vision

he confirmed the following:
- 1 - this player has the required hardware chip to support Dolby Vision
- 2 - it does not support Dolby Vision (out of the box)
- 3 - it will (as LG - Philips - Oppo) support Dolby Vision via a later (eventual)
firmware update (when exactly is unknown)
- 4 - licensing agreements are now worked out
- 5 - Dolby Vision supported televisions are as already known (X930E - X940E - Z9D)
- 6 - the remarkable X900E does not have neither the required hardware chip or processor power to support Dolby Vision, seemingly impossible, so it will not

needless to say, i immediately purchased and will have it in a few days (nice day today - indeed)

i was both expecting & hoping this would eventually be announced, as i would not purchase without Dolby Vision

my purchase was immediate (literally seconds) once that i was informed and subsequently (real time) confirmed via the Sony rep (seemingly, there is no possibility of error in this regard, as he was contacted several times as i waited for further confirmation that there was no misunderstanding)

I had a slight audio sync problem watching The Wizard of Oz with my son today. Nothing a pause and play couldn't fix though. It happened while watching the Arrival 4K disc. If that's my biggest problem, I'm pretty thrilled with the unit. The upscaling is great and the UHD picture quality is amazing. Planet Earth II.

I really, really hope that this is not an April Fools' Day prank... you know people are buying this player based on this information?

@jibucha, this is not confirmed by Sony.

I just checked my Sony dealer resources and their is no information to confirm this. I'll call Monday to double check.

Lets look into the Future. Say when DV blu ray disc arrives. At Electronic or Home Theater Trade Shows focusing on DV Blu Ray Systems and TV's___ do you THINK at the Sony Presentation area with mutiple DV A1E OLED's that each will be connected to OPPO 203's. No doubt the Media Press will be there. And one of them may ask... "Wow! That DV Blu Ray movie on the DV Sony A1e OLED looks fantastic. What DV Player is connected to it?

Hell. With this Spring EVEN Philip's BDP7502 Blu Player will be Dolby Vision. Is Powerhouse Sony suppose to remain JUST HDR10???

I'm 100% on board with wanting Sony to upgrade the X800 BD player for Dolby Vision. I just reported what I was able to find out through Sony's latest updates on our dealer portal. I also sent an email to my contacts and they will get back to me next week.
