Just saw several YouTube HDR10 Blu Ray disc movies by Mr. 4K Upscaler.
The Revenant, The Martain, John Wicks on the Sony x800.

Gosh Damn. I swear I have not found OPPO 203 Youtube of these same movies that had HIGHER PQ than the Sony X800.
Mr. 4K Upscaler also has a DOLBY VISION Youtube from VUDU
App of Live Die Repeat with John Cruise. Likely from Sony x800 VUDU app(?). Stunning PQ. DV streaming mind you. Astonishing PQ. Easily on par or better than HDR10 Blu ray disc.

Yeah. X800 will need, MUST Have Dolby Vision for its VUDU App.

Any issues with the Vudu app on the X800? It seems that any device I tried out has an issue with Vudu in one way or the other. On the Roku Ultra I had the chirping audio issue with Vudu and Netflix which from what I gather is a firmware issue, I'm now using my XBox One but a few days ago it's Vudu app stopped working for a few hours during the morning such as during loading a movie it would say something like playback error and that there was an error with the application during loading a movie or the app would just kick me out to the Xbox home page while a movie was loading. I also about a quarter of a second stuttering on the XBox One's Vudu app but that's an improvement because a few months ago I had frequent stuttering in the XBox One's Vudu app. In the Nvidia Shield, I had stuttering in the Vudu app for about 1 second. It just seems like I can't get a device that does not have any issues with Vudu. On my TV's Vudu app, sometimes the movie will quit playing and I would get kicked out to the TV's home page and this issue is quit frequent on my TV's Vudu app. I'm seriously considering either getting an X800 or a used Apple TV 32GB and just switching to iTunes.

Not saying it doesn't look good, just saying its not optical. People tried this crap with Blu-ray and Itunes/Vudu/AMazon. I have a calibrated E6 as well, so...

That dog doesn't hunt, just sits on porch and licks balls.

It obvious from your screen name and posting history that you have convinced yourself of something, and that is fine.

Blu ray disc is just a Shiny Platter. WithOut "Optics" you might as well Just Throw It Away. Unless maybe Ones Dog just Like to Lick It or Play Frisbie with it. Optics too allows vision of VUDU DV's Stunning Eye Candy streaming movies. As stated on Forums its Very Rare current Blu Ray Disc(HDR10) looks as Good

Yeah, a good amount is lost and I see no way to get it back. Messing with settings doesn't recover detail. It's a shame since now that the color is fixed the SDR looks quite good other than black crush. Oh well, I was just messing with it.

I trust Geoff is not a dummy so the Panny's SDR conversion must be much better.

Is there some sort of dummy detector test I can take? In lieu of that the HDR10 test patterns that I use will just have to do, and the Panny's SDR 2020 conversion resolves black right down to video level 64 as it should (bearing in mind that 10-bit Limited levels run from 64-940, not from 16-235 as with 8-bit). Additionally, I can see steps in the white clipping patterns clear to 2000 nits. The colour slides also show that I get as much DCI P3 coverage as an equivalent HDR 55" Sony from the 2016 range.

I don't think I do so badly with all this stuff.

I'm not quite as savvy as most of you guys are and know very little about "nits" and all that other technical crap(do you need to go to school to learn all of that stuff or are you all Best Buy employees? I don't get it) that you talk about. All I know is that if my picture doesn't look good like it should with HDR, then it just doesn't. If I have to turn HDR off on the player to get a good picture then there's something wrong.

I don’t use social media either. Unless addresses have changed since last I use to regularly communicate online with big S executives in thee electronics space regarding hardware,
just try charmingly emailing him at his:
first name dot last name @amdotsonydotcom

Most of those folks are willing to share with you what they can if you reach out to them respectfully. And best not use a header in your message that would automatically be flagged as junk.

As a past example, this is an email reply back to me (although not being about a 4K UHD Blu-ray player per se, but rather an extremely expensive past generation display)….

Ah, so "do you take credits card?", "hot and horny 18 year old" and "MAJOR investment opportunity" are not the best things to title the email as. Gotcha.

I goggled around based on your info:

It's interesting, and it's very tough to evaluate from youtube videos.
How can we assess picture quality from our PC's screen @ home?
And the same for audio from the sound recorded from a cell phone?
It's impossible. First the youtube guys need to have the best video/audio recorders, with the perfect room's conditions, and then they can only be compared among themselves from the inferior picture and sound rendition.

It's interesting...that's all.
_____

One thing we can take from it though is this: When he compare different UHD BR players...the operational hiccups he encounters in his own personal setup @ the time.

* Looks like he got a good deal on that OLED LG TV.

I think these are things I do because my set has lower brightness, but maybe not, so you can try them. I think my final HDR settings are boosting color by 4 in the player options and lowering my brightness setting in my TV menu for HDR by 5. You can try some stuff like that and see if it helps.
