So processing power hungry is Dolby Vision.
On another subject, I have around 30 something SACD discs (got my first SACD player in 2003) and a friend with a first gen PlayStation 3 to back up SACDs as ISOs. I have all my SACDs backed up but never really used those SACD ISOs. Now I finally do. There's a Windows program ISO2DSD that extracts the DSD tracks from SACD ISOs either stereo or multichannel. Well, the UBP,X-800 not only plays Stereo DSD, it can also play multichannel DSD. Now I have all my SACDs (and some of my friend ![]() |

And when I connect a potential Sony DV Player to a LG display it still has it's own custom DV chip. Of course the player also has to do something with the DV signal but most of it will happen in the display's chip. So I don't see why the Sony player shouldn't be able to handle it.

"Dolby Vision on Sony Z9DSony surprised everyone at CES 2017. Besides launching an OLED TV it also partnered with Dolby to bring Dolby Vision to several TVs.
And Sony has yet another surprise up its sleeve. Last year’s Z9D (US) and ZD9 (Europe) will get Dolby Vision through a firmware update later this year. To be clear, Dolby Vision requires specific hardware - a hardware composer - so it has been built in all along without anyone noticing. We asked Sony how it had kept such a significant feature a secret and the Sony executive just gave us a satisfied grin. Dolby did the same. Sony could not confirm the exact timing for the update but is hoping to have something ready by the middle of 2017." Lets change two wordings to see How it Reads. CES2018 for CES2017. X800 for Z9D(ZD9) Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 07-07-2017 at 04:48 PM. Reason: Completing post |

For whatEver you believe. Everyone is Entitled to do such.
Saw Posted on the AVSFORUM(I did cut n paste)... Nobody knows. However... "Sony UBP-X800 4K UHD Blu-rayplayer :: Dolby Vision (confirmed - today) (this information may not widely be known) today (yesterday it was not so) ::Sony rep confirmed forthcoming support for Dolby vision he confirmed the following: - 1 - this player has the required hardware chip to support Dolby Vision - 2 - it does not support DolbyVision (out of the box) - 3 - it will (as LG - Philips - Oppo)support Dolby Vision via a later (eventual) firmware update (when exactly is unknown) - 4 - licensing agreements are now worked out - 5 - Dolby Vision supported televisions are as already known (X930E - X940E - Z9D) - 6 - the remarkable X900E does not have neither the required hardware chip or processor power to support Dolby Vision, seemingly impossible, so it will not Last edited by E6AtmosVuduDV; 07-09-2017 at 02:10 AM.
